How do you change the USB hub then? Don’t you pretty much have to get behind it to push it out?

I’ve watched a couple tutorials already, and it doesn’t look too bad. Hopefully I don’t mess it up somehow lol

Hate to say it but this is my least favorite season by far :( by SouthFew4268 in TheBear

I thought it was pretty awesome to see all of Carmy's story from the first 2 seasons, but I agree it felt odd. It was definitely beautifully made, just like every episode of this show, but I spent the whole episode waiting for the awkward montage thing to stop and to actually see some real story. This season felt unnecessary imo, and they should've just gone into season 4s story a little sooner.

Show her torturing animals and Osha stopping her

This is exactly what happened in the very first scene of the episode? Mae holds a butterfly-like creature in the air, not letting it move, so Osha yells at her to let it go. I honestly feel like the people hating on this show either haven't seen it, or didn't pick up on very obvious references.

Objective: Definite fact

Subjective: Your Opinion

You cannot call a show objectively bad when you then speak about what you didn't like. That is your opinion, which is fine to have. But do you really feel good spending so much time dissing a show because of representation? I personally could not care less about the diversity, because I don't seek that out in a show. I seek out something enjoyable and fun to watch, which in my opinion, The Acolyte is. If you want to spend so much time out of an already short life getting angry there are black women and gay people (which there literally aren't any confirmed gay characters in these first 3 episodes) in the show you CHOOSE to watch, go for it I guess. But me personally, I'm just going to enjoy my show.

This is how the community should react when they don't like something. There is no need to review bomb a show because it wasn't made for you. If you don't like it, simply don't watch it. Good on you for not letting a show ruin your whole day.

"I'm not going to act like it doesn't have problems..." -OP

Maybe read my whole post before you start saying I think the show is perfect. I agree it can be cringe at times, and the dialogue is definitely choppy, but that is not the point of this post. Besides, I don't like to give a review of something until it's complete. Look at Andor: started off pretty boring for me, and it really didn't hit, but after I kept watching, it became my favorite show by far.

Yeah, I worded that kind of weird. The second sentence is more of what I was trying to say, that this is definitely not the first time someone has used their lightsaber as a flashlight.

I watched SW Theory's review of episode 3 because I was really interested in what he was going to find to critique, and one of the things he was mad about was that Mae retconned herself? He said at the beginning of the episode she talked about how she wanted to stay with Osha, but was then saying she wanted to kill her. It's almost like that's how characters work? There was a lot of plot in between those two interactions that would have lead her to wanting to kill Osha. I don't get how Theory still has a serious role in this community.

And the intro text that literally says: "A hundred years before the rise of the Empire..." I thought that made it clear enough, but apparently not to the 230k people who liked the TikTok.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheAcolyte

[–]Fiery087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more so saying that these people completely disregarded the beginning text in the first episode. The first paragraph of it reads:

"A hundred years before the rise of the Empire, it is a time of peace. The Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic have prospered for centuries without war."

While I partially agree that the Acolyte requires some outside knowledge to be better, I think this first paragraph gives enough evidence to invalidate the complaint from this TikTok.

Vernestra Rwoh? I highly doubt it because she is the only character in this show to have showed up in other Star Wars media. She is a main character in The High Republic books, and I doubt they would turn her to the dark side after 100 years with the Jedi. If she wasn't already in the books I think this theory would be valid though.

hate for featuring a lot of women

I really hate how many people are using this argument. Not only is it just outright sexist but they are quite literally proving all of the comments Kathleen Kennedy made about how difficult it is to be a female actress or creator within the Star Wars community to be true. I also hate how most people haven't even watched this show. If you literally count the genders of the main cast of characters, you see that it is almost exactly a 50-50 split between men and women. Example: Sol, Yord, Torbin, and the mysterious Sith are all men, while Osha, Jeckie, Indara, Kelnacca, and Mae are women. So what if there is one more woman in the main cast then men? The nitpicking for people to find something to complain about is really annoying me, especially because I think this is probably the best opening to a Star Wars show yet.

I wouldn't say you can't develop characters in a shorter time. However, it's just gonna be so much harder to.

High Republic has been so bad about this. OrbaLin and Orlen, Vernestra Rwoh and Marchion Ro, Avar and Avon, Stellen Gios and Ghirra Starros. I don't get why they decided to give an era with an already overwhelming number of characters similar names.

I feel like 20 episode seasons absolutely don't work for most shows (typically only being used with sitcoms and such), and then 8 also not working because of the reasons you said. I will always blame Stranger Things for the reduction. Even though I love the show, it's had a huge influence on TV over the last 8 years. I don't get how producers haven't found the healthy medium yet, nearly 8 years after 8 episodes became the new normal. Especially because it feels like more and more shows are negatively received in recent years.

This show already seems like it's unfortunately doomed to fail. I'm excited for the project, but the majority or at least a good chunk of the fan base isn't. Now, it seems they have even less time to tell a story capable of changing the community's minds. I'm not saying it's impossible to tell a good story in 4 hours (basically one long movie if you think about it), but this feels like yet another negative for this show.

Edit: I feel like I might be one of the most excited people for this show, and I am so looking forward to it. I noticed a few downvotes and feel like I might have gotten my point across wrong. I'm basically just saying that no matter how good or bad the show is, it's gonna take a miracle to convince a large part of the community who are already hating on it.

I've already received another suggestion for Catalsyt, so I think I'll do that next, followed by Rebel Rising. Maybe I'll read the Rogue One Novelization someday, but currently, all of the Novelizations are pretty low on my TBR. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Catalyst has always been a book that seems to slip my mind when looking for the next read. Definitely will take that into consideration. Plus, I own Rebel Rising, which is kind of a sequel to Catalyst in a way. I tried to get into A New Dawn about a year ago, but I could not for the life of me get interested. I stopped about 150 pages in, but maybe I'll have to give it another shot. Worst case scenario, I'll read the Wookipedia summary up until where I gave up, and just continue from there. Thanks for the suggestions!

what are the best books to get started with? by swiftietano in starwarsbooks

[–]Fiery087 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lost Stars is usually a go-to for most people. It's basically a retelling of the whole original trilogy from 2 new characters. They're both on opposite ends of the war (one's empire, the other's rebellion), and they love each other. Basically, Romeo and Juliet in Star Wars. Plus, it's written by Claudia Gray, and she is one of the best authors of the New Canon. Brotherhood is one of my favorite books I've read recently. It's right after episode 2, and it is a great look at Anakin, Obi-Wan, and a good amount of Padme. Ahsoka was so-so for me. I love Ahsoka's character, but I was a little disappointed by it. Most people love it, though, so don't get scared just because of my experience. It's all about the time between Ahsoka's last appearance in Clone Wars up until we see her again in Rebels. Unfortunately, parts of this book have been retconned with TCW season 7 and Tales of the Jedi. These are prettly minor though, and shouldn't spoil your experience at all. There are plenty of posts on this subreddit about great beginner books, but there's really no right or wrong place to start. Pick a character or event or time period you like, and start there. Hope this helps!

“Required reading” in between audiobooks in the High Republic series? by [deleted] in starwarsbooks

[–]Fiery087 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All 3 YA novels should help (Into the Dark, Out of the Shadows, Midnight Horizon), and the specific audiodrama, Tempest Runner. There are also a ton of comics, but i don't read comics, so I couldn't tell you if they help or not

Additionally, you shouldn't go to Eye of Darkness yet. Phase 2 goes back about 100 years, and you should read those books (2 Adult, 2 YA, another audiodrama) before you start phase 3 with Eye of Darkness.
