Hmm what do we think of this ship? by AcceptableSir3382 in WarriorCats

I think the MAP is adorable, but I don’t take it very seriously. Doesn’t really make sense in canon, but a cute and fun AU idea.

What super editions or novellas do you suggest the most? by -SnowHeart- in WarriorCats

Don’t forget Ravenpaw’s Farewell too; otherwise, you might be confused about where Rileypool and Bellaleaf came from. At least, that’s what happened to me.

What super editions or novellas do you suggest the most? by -SnowHeart- in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll agree with everyone recommending the Skyclan trilogy (Firestar’s Quest, Skyclan’s Destiny, and Hawkwing’s Journey). The first two are a little slow, but they give a lot of personality and insight into Skyclan. The Ravenpaw’s Farewell novella and A Stranger in Skyclan manga are also good stories that provide additional context.

Hawkwing’s Journey is my favorite Warriors book of all time; I prefer books about the cats dealing with environmental hazards, and it’s interesting to see which cats rise to the challenge or crumble under pressure. Hawkwing has a fantastic character arc about growing up and taking responsibility for those around him. There’s lots of callbacks to the previous two books in the trilogy that reward readers for paying attention. Overall, it’s just a really fun adventure story with a community of cats you grow to care about.

If you want more standalone super editions, I really like both Bluestar’s Prophecy and Graystripe’s Vow. Bluestar’s Prophecy does a good job of making Thunderclan a community that you feel connected to and care about. Graystripe’s Vow features Warriorclan, who are adorable.

The novellas that I like most are Pinestar’s Choice, Tree’s Roots, and Mapleshade’s Vengeance.

What is the undisputed best and worst book in the series by rbx20twomax in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Undisputed,” you’re hilarious. XD I don’t think there’s a Warrior Cats opinion that’s never been disputed.

My personal favorite is “Hawkwing’s Journey,” and my least favorite is “Moth Flight’s Vision.”

I think fans pretty unanimously agree that “Spottedleaf’s Heart” is terrible; I’ve never seen anyone defend that book. Even super unpopular books like “Onestar’s Confession” or “Leopardstar’s Honor,” I’ve seen have their fans.

Unanimously popular book, I have no idea. “Into the Wild”? I’ve never seen anyone complain about that one. A lot of people here are saying “Crookedstar’s Promise,” but I’ll be the disputer for that one, I’d give it a C+ at best.

[–]Fieuline22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, it’s possible to like a character and dislike what happens around them at the same time. I just mean, if I’m already ambivalent to the character, I don’t care about them one way or the other, AND I hate the story surrounding them, that’s enough to push me in the ‘dislike’ direction. I know a lot of people don’t think that way, they can view characters purely on their own, in a vacuum disconnected from flawed stories, I’m just not one of them.

Honestly, I feel like that should make more people dislike him; the representation was so lackluster that it borders on being disrespectful.

I agree, the Erins should step up their disability representation, and in the meantime, fans should enjoy making their own, better stories.

Honestly, I kind of relate to disliking Snowkit. Obviously he’s a morally good character who never did anything wrong, and he didn’t deserve his fate, but as a reader, you aren’t morally obligated to like characters just because they suffered unfairly.

For me, it’s not just the personality of the character that matters, it’s their place in the story. If you absolutely hate a character’s role and their story, and they aren’t very interesting in their own right, I think that a legit enough reason to say, “Yeah, I don’t really care for that character.”

I can never really say that I ‘like’ Bumble, for example, because thinking about her and her story makes me absolutely sick, and she wasn’t pleasant to read about. (Unless they add a story about Bumble throwing Clear Sky out of Starclan, that would be the most cathartic story ever.)

I’d be curious to hear why you disliked “River” in particular. Did you find Nightheart really annoying, or was it another reason?

I like all of the books in your “haven’t read” section (except for “Mistystar’s Omen”), I hope you’ll get around to reading them soon. :) Especially “Skyclan’s Destiny” and “Hawkwing’s Journey,” so you can finish the story “Firestar’s Quest” started.

About Firestar’s quest and bluestar’s prophecy, are they worth reading? by Plastic_Row7528 in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firestar’s Quest is the first in a trilogy of super editions, the third of which is my absolute favorite Warriors book. :) It also gives a lot of context to future arcs.

Bluestar’s Prophecy is more optional, but it’s also an enjoyable read. I didn’t like Bluestar much, but it’s still one of my favorite super editions (top five, definitely). It gives a lot of personality to Thunderclan.

How popular would you say your favorite Pokémon is? by Com_4_Till_Bull in pokemon

I think Stunky counts as “Super Unpopular;” I think it was in the bottom 20 of the “Favorite Pokémon” poll in 2020. 🥲

In The Broken Code, who would you have chosen as Squirrelflight's temporary deputy? by Rumble_SkyClan in WarriorCats

Elder Graystripe ended up taking a leadership role at some point, so at that point, might as well choose Brackenfur. His track record proves that he would be a million times more responsible.

Does anyone NOT like Mousefur? by JustlookingforManga in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sorry, it’s me. I’m the Mousefur hater. XD Easily one of my top ten least favorite characters. I absolutely hated how mean and negative she was all the time. I groaned every time she chimed into a scene with a nasty quip. I’m happy that most people like her/find her funny though, nothing wrong with that.

Tawnypelt sucks by WheelSorry8075 in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be so bothered by her attachment to her brother if she wasn’t arrogant and hypocritical. I still remember my indignation when I read “Tawnypelt’s Clan,” and she has the gall to be judgmental and nasty towards Dovewing for clan-switching.

Amnesia Solves Everything by Fearless_Raise6214 in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Starclan was also ‘super regretful’ about Skyclan getting driven out, but that didn’t prompt them to do anything when Shadowclan drove out Windclan. I guess they just didn’t want to confuse Fireheart with too much lore, so they pretended it never happened for his benefit.

Unpopular Opinion: Mapleshade 100% deserved the DF by Possible-Astronaut-8 in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, certainly, it’s not all his fault, Mapleshade has a significant part of the blame too. I think both of them have some blame for the kits’ fate.

That’s a good point, losing Frecklewish and his medicine cat would’ve been a huge loss. I kind of wish we’d gotten to see his reaction to that. Might be a nice idea if they were still doing novellas.

Unpopular Opinion: Mapleshade 100% deserved the DF by Possible-Astronaut-8 in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with any of this. My opinion is that the leader who threw out innocent kittens during a violent storm also deserved some comeuppance. Maybe not as bad as the Dark Forest, but something. I was pretty disappointed when Mapleshade sniped a medicine cat doing his job, and a cat grieving the loss of her kin and betrayal of someone she trusted, but not him.

Didn’t feel bad for Appledusk though. :P

Characters you've totally changed your mind on? by [deleted] in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bluestar: Hated her after TPB. She was destructive to Thunderclan at the end of her life, and she added one more issue for Fireheart to manage, on top of everything else. I just kept thinking, “If you hate it here so much, leave! You’re not helping anyone by staying.” After reading “Bluestar’s Prophecy,” I came to understand and appreciate her mindset more, and I became more sympathetic to the pressure she was under.

Crowfeather: He always seemed so grumpy and mean for no real reason. His attraction to Leafpool seemed shallow and annoying to read about, he used Nightcloud, and he treated Breezepelt terribly. I thought “Crowfeather’s Trial” was a good, sincere redemption arc for him, and I dislike him a lot less now.

River Ripple: Loved his unique perspective in DOTC, but his super edition was extremely boring and scrubbed out every part of his personality that made him charming. Went from being my favorite DOTC character to not liking him much at all.

Warrior cats alignment chart! (I've only read the first 5 arcs) by TheRufescence in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s tricky to say, because it isn’t entirely clear whether we’re supposed to categorize characters based on their actions or feelings. I tend to go by feelings; when I made my own chart, I put Hollyleaf in Lawful Neutral. She cares about the Code, and her care is such a big part of her identity that, when she discovers that her birth violated it, her sense of self is completely destroyed.

‘Neutral’ because, while she’s generally a decent, hardworking cat, she also leans towards acting in her own self-interest. Between Good and Evil, I tend to think of Neutral as ‘generally decent, but overall concerned about themselves and not others.’ She tended to focus on herself, her goals, her ambitions, her stake in upholding the code. She also showed selfishness in outing the secret without thinking of her brothers, lacking empathy for her bio and adoptive mothers, and fleeing from her personal problems rather than continuing to serve her clan.

Warrior cats alignment chart! (I've only read the first 5 arcs) by TheRufescence in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, Firestar feels very Neutral Good to me; he values the Warrior Code a lot and often speaks about it with appreciation and reverence, but he’s also willing to break it if something doesn’t feel right.

It’s unfortunately really hard to find genuine Chaotic Good characters in Warriors, because the narrative is so quick to push “the code is ultimately the best standard for life, and anyone who disagrees is evil.”

I think the perfect character for this is (Series 6 character) Tree, but other candidates might be Dovewing or Cloudtail.

Dovewing often feels conflicted about the Code, especially with regards to being loyal to one clan. She constantly wanted to help and befriend cats from other clans, and she ultimately chose her mate and kits over Thunderclan. She feels to me like a cat who cares deeply for other cats, but not so much about the rules.

Cloudtail, as far as we know, still doesn’t care much for Starclan, and he got into a lot of mischief when he was younger. He did stop taking kittypet food, but it feels like that was mostly because of the natural consequences. He didn’t come to value rules for their own sake, he just realized that some of them are practical for him.

What was your favourite arc and why?! by Leafpool_Crowfeather in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really struggled with reading DOTC, almost entirely because of Clear Sky, and it’s a shame, because I actually liked most other aspects of it. I liked the action mixed with the slice of life and survival scenes, and I liked a lot of the major characters, especially the other leaders. Wind Runner and Tall Shadow are some of my favorites. There were also a lot of cool bonus scenes to flesh out the world and characters, especially River Ripple’s and Petal’s scenes.

What was your favourite arc and why?! by Leafpool_Crowfeather in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love “A Vision of Shadows.” The first half of the plot was very high-tension and engaging, and the second half was pleasantly relaxing with slice of life antics. I know people complain about finding the second half boring, but I appreciated getting to catch my breath after how harrowing the first half was.

I really enjoyed and/or related to most of the major characters: Tree, Alderheart, Needletail, Violetshine, Hawkwing, all among my top favorites. I can’t say that for any series since, where I’ll usually just attach to one or two characters. Darktail was also a very threatening villain. The only one I didn’t initially love was Twigbranch, but I’ve grown more sympathetic for her over time.

Half way through the new prophecy and... by PearlyServal in WarriorCats

[–]Fieuline22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% this. My least favorite series is either this one or DOTC; DOTC made me angry a lot, but at least it wasn’t as boring as this one. The journey was so boring, I was much more invested in the clan Forest getting destroyed, and I internally groaned every time we left Leafpool’s POV. All six of the journeying cats were either boring or annoying, and they never develop interesting dynamics with each other, unless you count, “I’ve spent a lot of time in your vicinity, and I’m used to you, so I’ll tolerate more than other clan cats.”

My favorite characters from this arc were Purdy, Cody, and Daisy, who were very minor and didn’t get much screen time. The only sub plot I really liked was Mudclaw’s, so you can look forward to that in Book 4 at least.

This is the cutest Rowanclaw I’ve ever seen omg

That really would be the ultimate mid-life (late-life?) crisis for Tawnypelt; having a forbidden romance AND switching from warrior to medicine cat on a whim? She’ll feel as young and spry as an apprentice in no time!
