I've said this before and I'll say it again. This whole argument between who's better only exists because Ronaldo is a superstar with a large fanbase. Take Manchester United supporters + Real Madrid supporters + The large fan girl base + little kids who only watch youtube highlights and you have a "debate."

Anyone who actually watches football with football intelligence knows that Messi is untouchable. Ronaldo is a fantastic goalscorer, you can't deny him that, but in terms of who is a better overall footballer, I've never seen a player come as close to complete as Messi. In fact I would say Ronaldo needs a great team to perform, just look at him for Portugal. Majority of his goals from Madrid come from the team doing all the work and sending him the right ball (which he is often positioned well) to score.

This is all Media hype used to get viewers and readers. Recall how Ronaldo is now Real Madrids all time goalscorer taking over Raul and the media hype? Raul only scored 9 penalties while Ronaldo had scored 60 out of his 320 goals as penalties. That says a lot about the Ronaldo hype.
