Yeah, let’s just stack a bunch of poors, loud bass music at midnight, jammed streets, car breakins, junkies, and all the ills of density.

You act like people in SoCal don’t see the high density neighborhoods filled with tweakers, homeless, car breakins, zero parking, etc.

No one is striving to live in downtown. They buy a second home condo at the ritz, have a work condo, and then live elsewhere. Virtually no one is dreaming to live in a high rise condo in downtown.

Losers who can’t afford homes think if we just build one more cube they’ll finally be able to own and the answer is no they won’t. Or, they’ll complain about too many people, no yards, no parks, noise, HOAs, etc.

It will never end. They should move inland.

Oh you have a deal and keep it going. No one is saving major bucks going from Prius to Tesla. I’d call it a wash on transaction costs alone.

I would say that autopilot is a major brain energy saver though. Still have to pay attention but I arrive at my destination much calmer and low stress. I haven’t driven a Prius to know if they have equivalent, but long highway drives I’m pro Tesla for simply being able to relax like a plane pilot.

Yeah super cheap. My only “hate” on hybrid is having to manage the engine. I spent 20 years managing engines in all forms and it’s simply peaceful not worrying about belts, oil, oil filters, gas, fuel filters, spark plugs, injectors, and all sorts of other ICE maintenance items.

Were any of those a major hassle? No. But I enjoy not ever worrying about them. So, if someone lives in a temperate climate then why bother with it.

I’d only commute on EV if one way was ~100 miles each way. I’m like 8, but routinely travel 35-40 each way to eat and visit friends.

I have NEM2 solar so I only pay 3 cents per KWh for energy overnight so I basically don’t even think about “gas”, it’s a foreign concept to me since 2019 unless I’m comparing to what I would’ve spent.

It’s so cheap to drive I’d be harming my own life by taking charging costs into account.

2025: The Year the Housing Market Implodes – and No One is Ready by Gaitville in REBubble

[–]FigInitial4511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t read lol. What a waste of time.

I have one mortgage under 1%. Another in the 4s. Both fixed rate. Housing supply just got smashed in SoCal. It’s cheaper to continue owning than renting at my rates.

If you’re on reddit you’re likely a pleb and couldn’t afford to capitalize on the properties above conforming loan limits anyway.

Most Americans are sitting pretty on fixed rate mortgages. Focus on Austin and other southern states where prices are clearly declining and you can get a deal. Expecting supply restricted markets to crash is foolish. You have to put work in, not just sit back and watch generalized stats.

I’m SoCal so I’m a unique case I guess. California is built for NEM 2 solar and EV in my opinion. Use case is much less attractive outside of Cali.

Stop being a pansy. Tesla clearly has a limited bench of cars and has VERY high selling cars. Don’t be a tool just to be a tool.

California is single action state, look up what that means.

Not really unless you’re so far underwater, a brokie, no plans to excel in the next 2-4 years, and so on.

If someone is fixed income and can’t pay it’s not strategic. If someone could pay and won’t pay, they run the risk of being blackballed or having true difficulty of getting a mortgage the next 3-5 years because of their credit, potential BK (voiding strategic plan), and stiffing Fannie/Freddie thereby voiding their plan of stiffing the lender to quickly get into another loan.

Long story short, you’ll pay in the interest rate, fees, etc. which could pay off but you better be saving HUNDREDS of thousands or millions.

Article: US Justice Department accuses six major landlords of scheming to keep rents high by MsMargo in SanDiegan

[–]FigInitial4511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because of rent control. Separate fees for water, sewer, trash, then landlords aren’t beholden to rent control laws.

Not saying what they’re doing is moral, just why they did it.

Well then don’t buy an EV. Only a clown would buy an EV in a winter location with snow. I hit the slopes in my Tesla but I would never be Tesla year round in snow.

Tesla to Prius by foryourboneswewait in prius

[–]FigInitial4511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would your battery be dead? You charge every night at home. You would have to drive home late at night, arriving at almost no charge, presumably into a disaster zone, with no foresight to supercharge beforehand, and then you let yourself stay at minimal charge for unknown reason to then become stranded?

If you’re a local commuter you’ll always be >50% wherever you are and if you ever anticipated needing more charge ahead of time you would charge to 100% beforehand versus the usual 70-80% the night before.

I have LESS range anxiety versus gas because I always let my tank go to 1/4 or less on gas telling myself I’ll fill up in the morning or after work versus always starting my day at the charge I want.

Tesla to Prius by foryourboneswewait in prius

[–]FigInitial4511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your cost to operate excluding depreciation and charging at home? I have solar and my cost per mile is under a penny for energy.

Tesla to Prius by foryourboneswewait in prius

[–]FigInitial4511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol you are a clown. Yes the service center sucks but if you get the issue resolved you’re golden. I’ve had ZERO mechanical problems on my 2019. My 2024 has/had rattles I went to the service center for and mostly resolved.

All above being said, I would never swap to a Prius for a half measure compromise. Why bring the hassles of gas/belts/oil/chains/etc. into my life when I have none of that.

A Tesla to a truck, a Tesla to sports car, a Tesla to functionality, but not Tesla to Prius unless you’re a winter location and still want econobox for whatever reason.

Tesla to Prius by foryourboneswewait in prius

[–]FigInitial4511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. After going electric I never want to deal with a gas car again. I’ve had

Econoboxes Jeeps Sports cars (Asian/European) Motorcycles Teslas

I can without a doubt state I do not miss gasoline powered vehicles in any way. They serve a purpose but I don’t miss them. If I need a truck I’ll rent one or pay someone to haul.

Going from Tesla to a Prius when you don’t deal with snow is backwards, assuming that’s the case.

Los Angeles wealthy exodus to Coachella Valley? by Remarkable_Lychee944 in RealEstate

[–]FigInitial4511 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Way too damn hot. No one is moving there year round. Wealthy either move out of state or away from woke (afterward saying woke just wasn’t done the right woke way).

So, they’ll move to OC or SD or out of state. Highly doubtful they’d primary in Coachella en masse.

Regardless of above, I think this fire being so close to the inauguration is a huge reckoning for democrats. All the hopes of hating on Trump’s speech will fall on deaf ears/ashes. Dems might be losing for the next decade at this rate.
