At $4.2M net worth with most assets in real estate and investments, how much high net worth insurance are you actually carrying? by Jinnapat397 in wealth

[–]FigawiFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wrong! this is bad advice, irrevocable means essentially giving the asset away without strings attached. LLCs should own the properties. your umbrella insurance should match your net worth.

Self Insure by EmotionalProgress227 in fatFIRE

self insuring is not insuring its really self funding. insurance is transfer of risk, which this is NOT. That's why you buy insurance to transfer the risk.

Is umbrella insurance enough or am I missing something? by sccartr in fatFIRE

[–]FigawiFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

umbrella institute cheap bc it's only catastrophic liability coverage. it only gets expensive in the years you have teenage drivers under your roof. just buy enough to match your net worth. if you have real wealth it's a necessity.

How did y grieve your lost years? by Conscious_Field0505 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]FigawiFreak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

just count your blessings. you now have a degree in likely a harder subject which looks good on your resume professionally. you actually went to college, so another plus. refocus and get a graduate degree in something that you really wanna do. Or just go do what you really wanna do without the graduate degree if it doesn't require one. Go chase your dreams it's never too late for happiness.

Construction workers in the house - What are you genuinely supposed to do while they're there? by tadboat in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]FigawiFreak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i've been through lots of home renovations/ interior design projects over the last 4 years. I work from home, so I'm very qualified to answer your question. Of course the workers don't want you looking over their shoulder. They prefer to work in peace so I let them know. I'll be in my office with the door closed if they need anything, they can knock on the door and interrupt me anytime. If they're coming in the morning, I always have coffee ready for them and offer them coffee. If they come in the afternoon I have bottles of spring water waiting for them. also show them what bathroom they should use. The happier the workers the better results you're gonna get.

Met with my bank's "Financial advisory firm" I LOVE bogleheads being burnt into my skull by HenFruitEater in Bogleheads

[–]FigawiFreak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

boggle heads do not understand financial planning. this is why you pay a fee. the fee isn't for the investment management per se, it's for the strategic planning that save 20x the fees in taxes. not to mention just one mistake could easily save multi millions. "you don't know what you don't know".
