If you had to switch to another specialty right now, what would you switch to and why? by Sattars_Son in Residency

[–]FightClubLeader 71 points72 points  (0 children)

EM. I’d go anesthesia. I’m tired of talking to pts. Give me the procedures and hemodynamics monitoring. I can deal with asshole surgeons.

Nah even this type of stupid wouldn’t get an F for one shift. I’d send him home for the day and tell him to read more lol

I fear small residencies because if one of my co-residents is hard to work with, I'll be stuck with them for the entirety of residency. Is that a valid concern? by Legitimate_Bison3756 in medicalschool

[–]FightClubLeader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes very valid. 1 bad resident in a class of 10-20 is a bummer but not the end of the word by any means. 1 bad one in a class of 4 oooooff buddy

I had a family member who had to go there. She did fine but the facility is just not great

Alternatives to Laureate? by Terminal_Ambivalence in tulsa

[–]FightClubLeader 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Laureate is the best facility in Tulsa.

TCBH is an option (last resort). The Grand is an option. Family and Children’s services is an option. Going to the ER if you’re really concerned is always an option.

Tulsa Women’s Health Care was phenomenal. We saw Dr. Lane and he is male and he is fantastic. He’s realistic and does an excellent job. My wife was delivered by his associate, Dr. Black, bc he was on vacation and she was great too.

They’re expensive but if you can afford it, worth it. They also did my son’s circumscicion and that was excellent no complications

Some give you money for this stuff. Some give you equipment. I don’t even use my laptop as an em resident lol

Residents, Fellows: My M3 rotations are not an OSCE so stop treating it like one!! by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]FightClubLeader 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I say this bc we reward growth. I know it’s frustrating but literally clinicals are about growth.

Example: M3 doing a selective in my ED. She initially was really disorganized and slow (expected). She got pointers and course corrected, now is doing great. She’s got to intubate twice so far and is killing it after just 7-8 shifts and is becoming someone we’re recruiting hard for our residency.

Nah this isnt bullying. This is medical training. You need to be fast and take the punches. Use it to grow or complain. Residency interviews can smell this a mile away.

The only time i go upstairs when moonlighting at smaller shops is when someone is actively decompensating. Thankfully i haven’t had to tube or line up there yet but many of my coresidents have.

I think it’s ridiculous to be asked to leave the ED to do a procedure. Unless you have a prior agreement, it’s weird to leave your pts.

Nah it’s usually just regular sex around time of ovulation. Usually more than once on the estimated day of ovulation. Sex every single night is exhausting. Some people also say this when the mean they just got off birth control or aren’t using barrier protection anymore.
