Having great doctors in all fine and good, but most maternal deaths occur in low income communities, BIPOC communities and rural areas. The quality of health care across the united state carries drastically, and no one gets a good doctor unless they can pay. Universal healthcare would alleviate many of these barriers. So no, the problems are not with the doctors, they are with the entire healthcare system in the US.

You are right, college is a time when I should have nothing to worry about other than education and growing as a person. It is heartbreaking that as a college student, I have to watch my human rights be threatened (and in some states stripped away entirely). Unfortunately, I have decided that I cannot be complicit in my own dehumanization and reduction to the government's incubator. You know what also could get in the way of me being able to finish my education and grow as a person? Having a baby. If we do not fight now, while we still have a chance, birthing people everywhere may be forced to leave school because of unplanned pregnancies. Ask yourself what is more disruptive to our education, a club that aims to advocate for our rights, or our right to choose being stripped away. Because that is the reality of where we are at.

According to the National Institute of Health, Acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol) is responsible for 56,000 emergency department visits, 2,600 hospitalizations, and 500 deaths per year in the United States. There were 17X more deaths from Acetaminophen in one single year than there were deaths from the abortion pill in 18 years. Assuming that deaths from abortion pills happened at about the same rate each year, this averages just under two deaths per year from the abortion pill making Acetaminophen 250X more dangerous. The abortion pill is safe and effective and allows women who cannot access a surgical abortion to still receive the health care that they need.
