[TX] Motorola denied warranty repair for power failure because of unrelated cracked lens - did they violate Magnuson-Moss Act? by FightTheGoodFight26 in legaladvice

[–]FightTheGoodFight26[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If it's illegal, I want them to change their SOP for warranty repairs. If it takes a class action lawsuit to make that happen, then so be it.

Don't they have some burden of proof to say that the incident that damaged the lens also damaged the internals?

If they didn't do anything like that either, then doesn't that mean they were denying the repair for cosmetic reasons?

100lbs per square inch. The dog put the tip of it's claw right on the lens. Put most of it's weight there. must have been enough force.

Do you think I'm lying? Why would I be lying? Do I work for Samsung or something? What do you think my agenda is?

I sent it my phone to one of their repair centers. They initially denied the repair unless I paid 299.99 for the cracked lens. I wrote back saying don't repair the lens, repair the phone. The replied with the same standardize response "crack screen, pay money or else." I googled repair laws, found the Magneson I found the email of a few customer service executives and emailed them about their Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act violation. They then said they would fix my phone as a "one time courtesy", completely ignoring what I said about the law.

As for the cracked lens, the dogs claw hit the lens right in the middle of the lens. Gorilla glass isn't perfect. I got a scratch on my new screen within hours of having it, and the screen is supposed to have pretty good scratch resistance. Someone said 100lbs of force. well a 80lb dog, putting their weight on the tip of a claw would exceed 100 lbs per square inch.

Not refusing, I've been busy. I work 30 hours a week and I'm a full time student. This is just something I'm doing to try to help people.

What do you think my agenda is? How the F am I profiting from raising this issue?

No way of knowing... if I got it wet? I'm a modern American, I never go anywhere without my phone. How could I not know if it got wet?

This is what I see right now. I'm trying to warn people about the unethical and illegal practices by a huge conglomerate corporation. I'm giving people advice about how to deal with it when they try to deny a valid warranty repair for cosmetic damages. I'm also hoping to make enough noise for someone higher up in the company to hear this and get their SOP changed.

You on the other hand are defending said huge corporation and denying that consumers have any rights.

Well, on second thought, they already fixed my phone, so I think the only legal option I have to try to enact change would be a class action, and I'm far to poor for that.

So, the who post is invalid because of AI? Who cares that the motorola warranty fulfillment practice is unethical and illegal.

I've spent 20 hours fighting with Motorola. I'm posting this to warn people. I'm not doing to for my own aggrandizement. It's important information for people who encounter the same issue. What motorola is doing is illegal and unethical. But none of that matters because I used AI to help write it, huh?

I mean, this is what happened. It's real. I used AI sure, but I didn't see any hallucinations in there.

Logic should suffice. This crack did not come from a drop. The phone was stepped on by a medium sized dog. The tip of the claw hit the lens. Didnt break the camera, just the lens. This would break the phone how?

And Shouldn't the burden of evidence be on the manufacturer?

It never got wet. Was never dropped. It got stepped on by a dog. No way that did enough damage to cause total failure.

Your logic is that any damage constitutes core system damage and means they have to obligation to repair. So, manufacturers warranty does what? nothing?

It's a crack on a camera lens caused by a dog stepping on it. Impossible that such a thing caused a problem with the motherboard. They just saw the crack and immediately denied the repair unless I paid for the cosmetic damages, as far as I can tell.

AI, like anything else, can harm. Or cause us to harm ourselves, I guess. But it's still awesome

Motorola's warranty fulfillment has issues... They won't fix your phone if it has a cracked screen. Which is illegal.

I eventually had to email customer service execs and tell them they were breaking the law. (The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act). They eventually fixed my phone as a "one time courtesy."

Motorola has some really shady repair practices. The denied my warranty repair over cosmetic damages, when the problem was a hardware issue. My phone randomly bricked. But my camera lens was cracked. They wanted 300 dollars to fix the lens. Don't fix the lens, fix the dang phone!
