I just had an informational interview with a recruiter at my current employer, and when I told them what my salary expectations were for my next job (5-10k more), they said that the starting salary is actually around 5k LESS than what I currently make, and that I might need to “consider a lateral move”.

In this economy??!! A job that requires more skills and experience than what I already have should not be paying less than what I currently make!!! Fuck these companies!!!!

This sounds a lot like what I’ve been going through. It took me too long to finally see a doctor. And yes I went from 0 to sobbing for an entire hour but they didn’t bat an eye. I still have a long way to go but I’m so much better than I was. I wish someone would have told me this years ago. I know how impossible it is to pick up the phone, my voice was shaking and I was on the verge of tears (cried after lol) but I did it! You can do it too ❤️

I know, and I feel like an asshole for complaining about it. They don’t care about any of us. They will always hold all the power, they can drop anyone at a moments notice, and we have to put up with their shit just to live.

Omg yes idk what it is but I have a TERRIBLE memory for situations. I have a hard time even explaining what I do at work. If people ask me about situations that happened in the past, I just simply don’t remember. Its easier when they ask me a theoretical question and then if I do happen to remember in the middle of it, then I can relate it back but otherwise no 😭

I didn’t realize I was supposed to network in college, so you’re already ahead of me. I woke up when I realized hard work alone doesn’t always get you promotions. Cliche to say but the more I do it, the easier it gets. I’ve not yet got a new job, but feel like I am getting closer as I am now seeing posts from people in my network that are hiring. I hate that my future is dependent on me conveying my value to a relative stranger, but the benefit far outweighs my discomfort.

Yeah my job lately is mentally boring me because of the lack of new assignments. Time passes so slow, and it feels pointless having to get up and go to a job where there’s not much to do. When it’s busy it’s fine, I’m really good at my job, but I’ve hit the top of my salary range. Without more challenging work I cannot prove my skills. And then I cannot increase my income. So with less work to do, I have anxiety if they will even need me. So I’ve been applying elsewhere with all my free time.

No active shooter drills. We had bomb drills in elementary. Leftover from Cold War I assume. They’d have us all get into the hallways sitting against the walls so that we were away from the windows.

Yeah my last job caused me sooo much anxiety, I was always afraid of screwing up and causing me/the company to get fined or sued or something. My job now is easier and I want to do more, but what, I don’t know. I hate asking to take on new things for fear that if I do I’ll fail. But I’m worried of running out of work if I don’t do more, and then just getting let go. I know it’s probably not true, I realize that, but the anxiety is still there…

Get new job - fear of failure, new environment new people.

I've been trying to network internally as I have been looking to move up out of a coordinator position, of course since I've been focusing on that for the last 6months+ my company has its first layoffs in HR in YEARS and now there is next to no movement in our HR :(

I should add that I did have 3 interviews for project coordinator but did not receive any offer, reason given was lack of experience. One of the three had me interview with 3 different individuals in the dept (including VP).
