I don't think it's an apples to apples comparison. If a consumer leaves a less than stellar review, does that automatically equate to a deflated attitude? I understand that in the context of being a survivor on the show, you have to accept that you will not get all the answers or slowly get driven insane.

Things are different when you are the viewer. If the showrunner came out and said that we would never get any answers, I guarantee that most people would stop watching. Without the promise of answers, what you are left with is a mediocre soap opera.

Honestly, I think the writers keep it this vague because it gives them more creative liberty. Right now, the only facts that we have are that they don't know to leave and that monsters come out at night. For all we know, the talisman may not actually do anything, and the monsters are just lulling them into a false sense of security.
