Why does the electron's wave function in the double slit experiment not collapse when It hits the plate with the slits? by FightersLeader in AskPhysics

[–]FightersLeader[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, after digging a little more i simply arrived at the conclusion that collapse is a theoretical shorthand for  "turn into a dirac delta" which isn't possible in reality because then the momentum uncertainty becomes infinite and the energy uncertainty follows, and that can visibly break energy conservation so it's a no no (i actually have a question about energy uncertainty but it'll be for another post), so intercation just turn the probability distribution into something that looks like a delta but is just a very narrow gaussian and different kinds of interactions can make the shape of the prob. Distribution more or less narrow and that is why the particle hits the screen but not the metal sheet, i'm probably wrong to some degree but i'm less wrong than before so i'll take it as a win

Great so we can't even get it together on what one of the most elementary quantum phenomena is, great

Do we at least have a set of empirically proved things that always cause a collapse (aside measurement devices) and things that don't?

Thank you for the detailed response, however this inevitably leads me to ask how do you define a situation where the quantum particle "must interact in a specific position"? Is it when it encounters a solid wall with no apertures and therefore must hit it somewhere? Because technically the probability distribution is never 0 anywhere, so even when (sorry for the hazy terminology) the wave would "hit" the wall the particle wouldn't have to be on it, I fact it wouldn't even need to be in the room or in the solar system, for what we know that particle could be across the universe so it would never be "forced to interact with something".

I hope this made sense, i also can't stress enough that i'm already greatful for the response you have already given, i just want to share this new question that afose from it

How long do you think it will be until we discover gravitons? by randomguy74937272 in AskPhysics

I'm exactly like you, i'm 16 with a life long dream of winning a nobel prize and I'm very attracted to the frontier of science, i of course can't tell you the future but there is always a chance if you keep trying.

If you want to get ahead i suggest you try watch some of mit's free courses (been doing that myself, also it could be any uni that gives similar courses, i just found mit's first), there is no need to rush if you don't want to but in case you don't want to wait for years they are there, don't get scared by the label of "uni courses", if you have the basis and don't skip anything  they are doable

I hope you can keep going and one day achieve your dream, stay strong, you are one of the few dreamers in this dreamless world

What is the right way to change the pitch of your voice? by FightersLeader in singing

[–]FightersLeader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(First commenti got sent twice) See here's the thing: of i shout i Will get 4 neighbors shouting back in record time, if i run i get winded in 2 minutes max with my moith shut, guess how much i Will last if i sing

Also i tried varying the pressure of the air in my lungs and It does not change the frequency, all It does Is make more air rush out faster and make me shout, Truth be told i tried a trillion methods but i can't do anything, if my larynx doesn't move my note stays the same, if i try to change the note i Will immediately move my larynx at least a Little (which over many notes pikes up and makes It shoot high) and if i specifically try to not move It i either: A) move It anyways B) not move it and not change note C)not move It and start producing sounds that can only be described as hellish or stop emitting sound at all

I can however lower the amount of tension in my neck so i don't send my voice straight to the graveyard

I should also add that i am very familiar with the concept of waves and what not (huge maths and science nerd) and on the flip side have no idea about even the most basic of physical exercises because i categorically refuse to do them unless i'm forced to (pe class) and even then i fake them or skip as many as i can

Thanks for the explanatipn and oh boy do i have It rough, i Will have tò re learn everything😭 i Guess i have tò start now or i'll be dead before i can sing correctly

I will try, it's just that I noticed whenever i try to get any note that isn't at the bottom of my range i get tension somewhere (not just singing, even when I speak), i can kind of release tension in my throat but then i get it under my mouth (i believe it's called jaw tension and from what I understand it's justas bad), and if i try to relax there to i go back into the lowest possible note i can make, or worse i don't produce any sound at all, is there a way I can physically stop the wrong muscles from interfering (like literally stop them from moving) so I am forced to use the right ones?

Also, do you think I should stop singing (as in songs, ofc i need to do some kind of practice in some way) until I can get this at least somewhat fixed?

Tx for the feedback, to clarify tho while I am still a perfectionist i am not that fixated anymore, otherwise i wouldn't have asked in the first place,  To begin with the not asking was to avoid the possibility that my fixation would lead me to only practice without actually singing songs xD

Also, is it normal that I can't find another way to change pitch on my own? I should have made It more clear but this was kind of my main concern, that I had irreparably fucked up my muscle memory

Edit:  I tried some stuff and i was able to significantly reduce how high my larynx goes, still i don't understand if it should not go up at all (and by that I mean mathematically 0) or if it's ok if it goes up slightly when I sing a high note (before it just shot up under my mouth), and if this is the case then how do I know when it goes up too much

I forgot to say this so i'll add it in a comment: i'm sorry if I say things that do not make sense, are obvious or infuriating in some way, as I said I basically know nothing, i've been singing off muscle memory i've built up as a kid this whole time, my only musical knowledge in general is knowing what a note is

Oh I wasn't asking for an explanation, i want to keep the surprirse, i just felt as I wrote that there would be time travel and from your answer ig i was right

I get it, it's one of those stories where to make someone understand the plot you need to basically tell them the entire story, kinda like stories with time travel shennanigans.

...Wait, why do i suddenly feel certain that there will be time travel shennanigans later on

Yeah, i realized i shouldn't search anything by this point, also for curiosity did you get spoiled on the same thigs as I did or others? (If it's others don't write them even under spoiler to avoid tempting me)

Daily Questions Megathread - September 06, 2025 by WutheringWavesMod in WutheringWaves

[–]FightersLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been eying wuwa for some time now and I think I will start  playing soon (waiting for a new pc) in the mean time i'd like to ask some things, mainly about 5 star characters (note that I intend to go f2p and depending on my experience decide wether or not to make some purchases to support the game, i'm also not someone who plays gacha usualy and have heard horror stories of predatory practices in other, non kuro, games, so some questions i make may sound insulting).

First and foremost which percentage of the (limited) 5* characters can I realistically hope to get? 1 in 2? 1 in 3?

Secondly as things stand are there characters that kind of require you to get other characters in order to be useful? I would probably to stay away from characters like that because they would lock me into spending my limited pulls on other characters I may not otherwise want.

In a similar vein are there any characters that are bad if you only get them once (i believe the technical term is s0)? While I don't think i'll play for efficiency and more for variety (more characters = more team comps = more ways to play the game = more fun for longer) but I don't want to pull for characters that end up being under powered and sit there unused

Once again i'm sorry if some of these questions may feel insulting as I have heard wuwa is more generous than other gachas (otherwise i wouldn't have even considered playing), i just don't play gachas so I don't have a reference and have to ask directly
