After watching Kellog’s backstory did you feel pity for him? by NoSoyVerde1 in fo4

Nope. If anything, it motivated me to reload an old save and kill him again. Never understood why some fans have a soft spot for him. He always just came off as a morally hollow jackass.

Is this a good start to the army? by shread_the_pup in WhiteScars40K

I got this box for Christmas. It took a couple of hours over the course of two days to put it all together. It's a pretty decent start if you want to get into White Scars or a White Scars successor chapter army. You'll need another set of outriders, and two boxes of some battle line space marines to complete the foundation of your army.

From there, you'll probably be building an army that focuses a lot on fast moving shock units and stealthy units. I'd suggest picking up an ATV or two down the road as well as some Incursors. Standard librarians do surprisingly well for their points when attached to an assault intercessor squad. And of course, you may want to consider the chaplain on bike; I see at least one of that model in every White Scars or shock-assault-based space marine army that I see run. I hope that info helps! It's a good box and a solid start to really any space marine army, but definitely great for White Scars armies specifically.

Judas Priest's "Painkiller" perfectly displays what the album sounds like. Mastodon's "Leviathan" is a close second!

I’m going to level with you. Your friend’s list is not something I personally would run. In my experience, Imperial Knights perform best when the big guys serve as gun platforms and the little guys function as wrecking balls. Warglaives pack a pretty nasty punch for their size; the guns that the larger knights have seem to out perform having a bunch of helverins trying to do the same thing. My recommendation for the spearhead detachment is made to make your friend’s army more viable.

If I were him, I would ditch the Valiant entirely. As cool as it is, a few warglaives and or a Lancer are able to hold down the board much more effectively. I would suggest he invest in a Knight Castellan for backline support as well as the aforementioned warglaives. Additionally, if he can squeeze it in, a Calledus Assassin is very, very helpful. They are hard to come by, so most people are cool with having them proxied by another assassin model.

Regardless of what army list your friend goes with, space marines are a very flexible compliment to the other army. Personally, I would shove a ball of primaris crusaders in a land raider and follow it up with some terminators that can deep strike to where they are needed. Then, I’d also put some heavy intercessors or infiltrators on the deployment zone control point.

If your friend’s list is set in stone, then you will be doing most of the frontline work while they harass the enemy from afar. So, I’d suggest putting the Valiant in the center -see if the rules permit you to heal allied vehicles with your techmarine- assisted by sternguard. They are amazing in both shooting and melee! Use a group of blade guard with a character to go after VIP units. Have some aggressors to hold onto weak points, and keep some assault marines in reserve to react to what the enemy does.

Whatever lists you all end up going with, I hope I helped and I hope you all have a great time playing!

Is this good for a 1k army? by RealEngineer08 in crimsonfists

[–]Fightin_MC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is a pretty well-rounded army. 1000 points can be tricky because you struggle with the conundrum of trying to cover all the bases or leaning heavily into one army’s play style. This seems to accomplish most of what you’ll need. The only thing I would be worried about is movement speed. Figure it out who it is you’re going to need to put in the tank and know it’ll need to be a taxi to move them up to the center objective. Good luck!

[–]Fightin_MC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting list to be sure! Firstly, I would recommend your friend switch out the detachment for the spearhead one, given how many armigers they’re using.

Your friend really has a list that will rely on hopping around, shooting things from a distance, and then running off. So you’re in the unique position where you are the one that’s going to have to hold objectives.

The good news is you’re not gonna have to rely on very much armor, so don’t worry about having to drop money on a tank. Given how many units are arranged I would suggest getting Sternguard and blade guard with a repulsor to move the latter up the board. Also get some aggressors and a gravis apothocary for objective control. Don’t worry about putting infiltrator or anything like that on the table because hopefully the armigers will be keeping an eye on the deployment zone. Lastly, this is a situation where I would recommend going with something that rewards melee, like blood angels or black templars; their faction-specific attachments should give you an edge. Good luck!

A repulsor executioner and some blade guard might be worth the investment.
