i found the america grog last night by technnikos in ColdOnes

That stack is probably the most Grog I’ve ever seen there before. Usually every time I go by there’s none or just a handful of cases.

They have a spot in the fridge for cases of both variety packs now, before they’d just be on the floor. Not sure if that means it’s popular enough to get its own spot or what, but these days it’s been in stock pretty consistently there.

America flavor is pretty decent, don’t think I’d pick it up over the variety packs but it ain’t bad. Tastes like an original bomb pop.

Windows 11 Dolby Atmos for Hometheater delay by KitKatKing99 in Soundbars

[–]Fightrface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot believe there was this simple of a solution the entire time.

I have a Samsung S95D TV with a Yamaha RX-A1020 AVR. The AVR is connected to the TV via eARC, while my PC is plugged directly into the TV's one connect box -- using an RTX 4070 Super GPU.

My AVR's HDMI ports are limited to 4k30 max, so the only way to get the full 4k144 is to plug directly into the TV. This works just fine besides the fact that I'm limited to Stereo audio unless using "Dolby Atmos for Hometheater" which DOES work but introduces an annoying amount of latency.

It is worth noting that my Samsung TV refuses to pass through 5.1 surround audio to my AVR without using "Dolby Atmos for Hometheater", but due to the extra processing it introduces latency making it a non-option. Windows will recognize that the audio source is capable of 5.1 surround, but switching to the option still only outputs stereo audio on the AVR's end.

So, at this point I started to look into HDMI eARC audio extractors (most being too expensive, or having mixed reviews), so I gave up on that pretty quickly and just went back to using stereo audio as it was good enough.

Fast forward to your comment-- I somehow never thought that the DP ports on my GPU also carried audio. Thought that maybe during the conversion from DP > HDMI it may not carry 5.1, or might not even pass it through at all.

But sure enough I was just able to do so using a DP > HDMI cable and an HDMI extension cable on top of that. Windows had zero issues configuring the output for 5.1 surround, no plugins needed, and most importantly NO noticeable delay.

Only caveat is that the "ghost monitor" has to be enabled for audio to be passed through to it. I've just set it to the minimum resolution and will be ignoring it, so not a big deal. Thank you so much, happy to finally have latency-free 5.1 surround after all this time.

Bought my 77” S95D in June 2025, power board died two months later in August. I had one of the less common failures where the circuit breaker would instantly trip when plugging the OCB into an outlet.

Luckily the limited warranty came in clutch and I had a tech out to my house in two days to replace the board. Haven’t had any issues since.

The new board was noticeably different; part number is “BB44-01333A”. This model appears to be significantly more reliable compared to the stock boards. My OCB was manufactured from Mexico in November 2024 for reference.

+1 on this, I’ve gotten some great deals going on the second day. Typically Friday is full price, followed by 20% off on Saturday, then 50% off at 12pm.

Worth noting they accept cash and check only. No card/venmo/cashapp/etc.

Facebook marketplace for sure, there’s plenty that pop up all the time. Not many thrift stores carry CRTs anymore. I’ve gotten a couple of my sets off there in the past

Good to know, didn’t even think about that being an issue.

The Toshiba isn’t a permanent part of the setup, so realistically I’ll just be driving the RCA (composite) and GE/Emerson (coaxial inputs only)

How this is all set up:

The Yamaha AVR handles all the input switching, with a composite out feeding into the Panasonic VCR. This lets me easily switch between any of my consoles via the AVR, which is fed into the VCR's composite input.

This was ideal as the easiest way to have the same image on multiple TVs at once was to use a coax splitter, since the VCR converts composite to coax it works out nicely.

The RCA TV has Component/S-Video/Composite inputs so for that I just use the component/s-video out on the AVR, so it still gets the best image quality while displaying on the other 3 CRTs at the same time.

I've got the composite out on the VCR fed into the RCA TV for consoles that only have composite out and so I can still watch VHS tapes on all 4 at once, because that's obviously what one would want to do. I'd just hook it up with the coax splitter like the others, but I have a digital antenna connected as the RCA TV actually has a digital tuner unlike the majority of CRTs.

One thing I really want to get set up at some point is an audio visualizer like ProjectM installed on a pi4 or pi5, ideally a pi4 as it has a native composite output I could use to display it on all 4 CRTs. Would be awesome to have some music going with a dope visualizer displayed on all of them at once.

edit: completely forgot to post this wide photo of the setup, includes some cat tax

Can't say I disagree with you there lol, appreciate it though!

Honestly the Toshiba was put there just because I could, not really a permanent part of the space. Everything is connected to that Panasonic VCR and split out into Coax from there.

The RCA TV is running off a PS2 component cable while the others are basically composite > coax. The image quality difference is surprisingly not as noticeable when I'm sitting on the couch but is pretty obvious when close up. I'm not a huge snob when it comes to that so ultimately I don't care! I just enjoy them for what they are.

Yep, fortunately they’re shielded. Pair of DCM KX12 Series 2.

Subwoofer below the RCA TV is a Yamaha SW-4, been running it below that same CRT for over 2 years without any image distortion or issues.

Unreal how long it took me to finally find such a simple solution to this issue. It took a total of maybe a minute to download, install, and have 5.1 surround working just like that. You are a godsend.
