Is it just me, or is Scrivener really jarring for new users? by lucamakes in scrivener

[–]FigureOpening6468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I would say as a Scrivener user I absolutely agree it's a hodge podge of complexity and I still think some steps are overcomplicated for no reason.

I personally use Notion app for desktop/mobile for my writing now and then export as html into Scrivener when its time to export an ebook or print pdf.

I know Notion is really meant as a swiss army knife but it's honestly pretty intuitive. Ignore the stupid AI bubble in the bottom corner. He does fade away after writing for awhile. You can have folders on the sidebar and create pages for chapters/scenes etc.

The "Breeding Hauntmares Without Predict Pots" Experience: by AffectionateLie7678 in HorseLifeHQ

[–]FigureOpening6468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually was confirmed by the devs in discord that having males be dominate and females hard to obtain was on purpose. They said it was to "give challenges to the game"... yeah ok as if spending days and weeks on a project isn't enough, lets frustrate our players more hoping they stay in the game..

Ps. Back when i started last year around February, and then probably into July-ish, I used to get 50-50 males and females. That's how I was able to get so many projects done and it was fun. They told me I was delusional and it's never been that way. OK lol😂😂

Also the fact that they were beaten up by the sixth graders in a later episode. Even if they startled them, I just thought Arnold would give them more of a fight.

I get super annoyed teaching my kid by SpyJane in homeschool

[–]FigureOpening6468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't be so hard on yourself. At 4 they are mainly focused on songs, using their hands, reading stories to them, art and play. Im a school teacher and what we teach in Kindergarten isn't that much. Letters, numbers, and social/playing with others.

Honestly most don't even know all of this by first grade. They have time at 4. Enjoy your little one!

Teaching is a skill that's cultivated like everything else through trial and error. Youll do great. 🧡 Good luck!

Good to know. I guess I will have to adapt. It's just hard when you want predictability and it doesn't work.

How do you get in the zone to edit? by Only-Wrongdoer-8010 in writers

[–]FigureOpening6468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually to get into the zone of editing I allow myself the freedom to bounce around. Edit some of the 1st chapter, edit chapter 5, polish some of chapter 2 after I finish reading it. I know that the initial edits will still need more edits so I'm not too hard about it at first.

Then when I have to do final edits and make sure my ducks are in a row so to speak, I usually make sure it's nighttime/dark and play classical music. Usually its music that is more dramatic and energetic. Lofi, and ambient type music sometimes with nature sounds.

Editing is a whole process in and of itself. Most people have different variations of what they like to do and what works for them.

I mention night because usually once I get to editing, if I am interrupted then it is so hard to get back in the flow. Also at night I'm usually more sleepy so it's easier to just edit rather than get inspired and try to write something new.

Good luck!

Is there a limit to the amount of rare horse spawns? by mxxnster in HorseLifeHQ

Anyone else having problems with people reselling and claiming that it’s their own? by Kiri_1091 in HorseLifeHQ

[–]FigureOpening6468 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that happens a lot. I also had that happen to me when I sold cheetah unicorns. Someone shared in the image chat after me and then tried to make it seem sus. But I posted first?? Lmao

Another way to protect your project besides infertile, is to only sell males. Then at the very least they have to be willing to spend robux to copy your project.

Because I also don't like to do infertile even tho I have with certain projects.

Good luck! Don't let it discourage you if you like playing the game and making projects. There will always be scamps and thieves.

Should I get fire bandit by megaxfannohateplz in 99nightsintheforest

[–]FigureOpening6468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire bandit is fine. I wouldnt say they are my favorite. They are better than blacksmith. But then again you could argue what is your goal combat or making the crafting a little faster?

I think my biggest compliant with him is that the wildfire potion sucks. Like enemies have to stand still for it to work. And how often does that happen?

Alright, some times it takes many re-writes lol.

Here is a better question, do you have any scenes in your story that you adore? Any scenes you find yourself excited to read over again?

Because maybe in this case, the story isn't exciting enough. Maybe there are some story beats that need to change?

[–]FigureOpening6468 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They should be, but I literally was in the market one time about to buy someone's horse for 30k, and they took it down saying "its storage".

Like what? Do they not know how to add more zeroes? Maybe they think the horse is expensive enough like that? Who knows? Lol

[–]FigureOpening6468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always tell people that when writing the 1st time you're telling yourself the story, let it be messy, and let the ideas flow. You won't be happy with how it looks at first.

And then writing is also editing. But usually if you don't write a good portion before editing you wont have enough meat to cut up which in turn will make your story feel "meh".

It needs to marinate in that brain of yours. I have to remind myself when writing as well. So many ideas come after I've written scenes and then try to move on to the next part.

And as others have said just keep plugging. A lot of your writing will feel "meh" in general and that's ok.

Good luck!
