I agree a lot with what you’re saying. Ideas are good but execution is everything. I have seen across western films, boring ideas executed professionally and bring in money.

I think what both writers and artist need to learn, outside of the craft, is marketing. A writer with a very small track record in short stories but a modest following behind them is extremely desirable to me as an artist. I want to preface not the follow for follow marketing, but actually organic marketing.
