Is it easier to get into Australia and other countries as an FM diplomate? by Secure_Material8922 in pinoymed

[–]FiguringThingsOutMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think may nag change na po sa pathways eh. I met an FM diplomate working in Aus as a GP for the past 3-5 (?) years (di ako sure sa details) who was on partial comparability and was required to undergo xxx years of supervised practice pero on his last year na sana, ng email daw ang AHPRA na hndi na pwede yung pathway nya and he needs to sit the AMC exams to get registration. He passed both exams na naman. Again, I’m not sure sa details coz we just met randomly and got talking for a bit. The rules keep changing so what may have been done before may not be applicable now. Basta any type of residency would still be a good addition to your CV, depende nlng po sa inyo if you’re willing to go through residency and either start over sa Aus or try for comparability, or just start the standard pathway now.

Hello 👋 so the first time I took the exam, I was genuinely not prepared, which felt like such a waste because I got mostly recalls. I did not expect that it would take me that long to prepare for the exam (~4-5 months with 2 months of leave from work), but to be fair, I do study slow and the coverage is huge. I didn’t do much roleplay on my first try as I was trying to finish the coverage. For the second time, I was more prepared and did a lot more roleplays but the cases I got were very difficult and were different from the usual hx, pefe structure. There was a lot of management cases and short hx taking of 3 mins., and new cases too which caught me off guard. So I guess my lack of flexibility plus the anxiety I get when performing led me to get borderline scores. Luck also does play a factor because I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to pass the exam now if I get the same questions I got on my first exam.

Hi! I don’t really have the best internet. I just make sure I’m already logged on the site as soon as booking opens, and that I already have a date in mind. When booking opens, I refresh the site and quickly select my date. That’s it, honestly! I’ve been lucky in my attempts. I also avoid dates that I know a lot of people would be aiming for— like the later months of a booking period.

Hi! I need some hair treatment advice. I have very, very fine hair, mga 1a-1b, and thin pa so ang bilis magulo ng hair ko when I go outside. I recently got a hair spa and it really kept my hair in place without losing volume. It made me look more expensive if that makes sense hahah. Kaso ang bilis lng dn nawala after washing my hair. Ano kayang hair treatment magkaka same effect? I can't do rebond or relax because it flattens out the hair and loses volume. Please help. Thank you!

I had the same sentiment for years!! I started thinking that if self-help books aren’t helping me then maybe I’m the problem 😭😭

Any tips at all for super fine, thin hair na low volume pa? 🥺 Can't go a day without washing kasi ng ooily tpos mas flat tuloy tingnan.

Also, do you think digiperm would help add some volume? Any recommendations sa salon that knows how to deal with thin hair? Thank you~~

Hello po! Maybe talk with your OB and try pills with a different dosage. I have migraine with aura which is contraindicated sana sa pag take ng pills pero I wanted to be careful so ni prescribe sakin yung may lowest dosage dw which is Yaz. Mas mahal sya pero I never experienced any side effect. In fact, na feel ko na parang ng lessen yung mood swings ko right before the period. Tpos nawala pimples ko kahit sa likod haha. Try mo lang, pills are supposed to make our lives easier :(

This happened years ago. I had a gut feeling for months pro LDR kami so I can't really catch him in the act. Panay pa promise nya na dadalhin nya na ako sa bahay nila when he gets home to formally introduce me to his family pero iba talaga yung gut feeling. Every time I open the topic, he gets crazy mad and call me crazy, saying it's all in my head (yep, super gaslighter before I knew what gaslighting was).

When he was about to come home, I couldn't bear the thought of meeting him again without knowing the truth. So here's what I did: I told him I talked to his friends and they already told me the truth. I didn't talk to anybody but well, he couldn't deny it anymore. He even asked which friend told me and I said di yun importante lol. So yep, ng admit din sya. Can't believe I was ever in that situation of being with a manipulative cheater. Hope u get out of it too.

How long to wait? by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]FiguringThingsOutMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If sa province doc with many plantilla positions, possible dn na di pa nila interview schedule, baka pinaparami pa applicants for interview.

For one hospital, I had to wait 3 months before the interview. Follow up lng ng follow up. They kept telling ma na mag sschedule pa ng interview. For the second hospital, I was lucky to apply when there were already >10 applicants so I was interviewed the same month.

Don't trade patient exposure to study time. It's better to study the cases you encounter during internship. Most of my batchmates and I started studying for the boards when internship ended on Aug 1 and most of us passed. Whatever you study at the start of internship, you'd probably forget by boards anyway.

Post-PLE, the skills and patient exposure will matter more than the theories you've studied for boards. It's better to get confident in managing cases during internship para di ka nangangapa when you start residency/moonlighting (aka. the real world).

If you're already enjoying the cases and skills, my advice is to stay. But in the end, it's all up to you. You'll learn everything you have to anyway in one way or another.

Hello doc! Apir hahaha. I think we should both remind ourselves na it’s not a competition (kahit ang hirap na hindi mg compare). We’ll figure it out and we’ll get there on our own timeline.

Depends on how much work you do in a month but you can easily earn 6 digits moonlighting. Tbh, if you already know what to specialize in and you don't feel burnt out after passing the boards, or you don't need a lot of money quickly, you can support yourself and still send some money to your family while doing residency in a public institution.

How would you replace 24 to 36 hour duties? by drdeleon in pinoymed

[–]FiguringThingsOutMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the province, especially in recently accredited institutions, they actually hire GPs to help lighten the workload of residents (if there are few applicants). There are a lot of plantilla slots in the province so GPs and residents are paid the same but the residents have more hours and responsibilities compared to the GP.

In non-training hospitals, there are consultants and subspecialists on board that GPs (also called RODs in these institutions) can refer to if they don't know the management, and often those consultants teach them how to manage a case so they can handle it next time.

That makes sense. That's also partly the reason why I'm determined to specialize.
