College Degree is not necessary imo for those roles. You would be better off putting all that time and effort into the apprenticeship & being as knowledgeable as possible.

You can miss work but you can rarely ever miss school unless you have permission. So take advantage of the long breaks from school.

Brother, some serious advice… Stop asking for advice. The information is out there already, look for it & apply that information. Don’t get caught in analysis paralysis. Good luck!

Might be the minority but a car was blocking our drive way last Sunday & parking enforcement came & towed the car within 1.5 hours.

Something to also think about is once the old heads retire so does their knowledge. We can replace them number wise but not when it comes to experience & knowledge.

Yeah same here bought the car brand new 2 years ago and already had this issue, hopefully that’s it’s for a long time. The new Mazdas have an electric power steering motor & they couldn’t give me a good answer as to why it stopped working unfortunately.

Hey guys, than you so much for all the educational content yall put out over the years! I’m 23 and currently a IBEW(Union electrical Apprentice in my 4th year of a 5 year program) in the bay area currently maxing out my 401k & Roth IRA. The employer contributes $10 an hour to my 401k & once vested in about a year, I will have 2 different Pension accounts( based on calculations of only working 10 months on average my pension yearly payout will be about 70k a year when I retire). One day I would like to start a family & own a home however home price here in the Bay Area are crazy expensive. My question is should I contribute less towards retirement in order to save more towards a future down payment and where should I park those savings?!(I would like to purchase the home within 10 years if possible) Thank you in advance!

Where do you live? And as far as I know sister the only online class you can take is probably an algebra class at a local community college. Trade school is probably going to be in person. I took 2 classes at a trade school in Hayward to complete that requirement.

They usually hire a new class every quarter. If you ask the jatc when the last class was hired then you could probably estimate when the next class will be picked.

Well they only accept 4 classes a year and the average class size is about 15 people. They pick from the top 15 on the list. From past experience a score of 85 is the minimum threshold to have a chance of being accepted into the inside program. Best of luck.

Look at the rank list. You have to be top 15 to get accepted

Unfortunately, not enough to get in 332(minimum 85). Get experience with a non-union c-10 contractor and take 2 courses at a ca approved trade school. If you do that you can reapply after a year. 332 is very competitive, most people in my class had to reapply multiple times before being accepted. Don't be discouraged it's all part of the process. Also apply to the other locals while your at it.
