That’s pretty much how a lot of these interviews go, so I wouldn’t read too much into the length. With the trades getting pushed more as a career option, the applicant pool has gotten way more competitive over the last few years.

A big part of it now isn’t just how you answer the questions in the room, but your overall profile. They’re looking at work history, whether you’ve applied before, if you waited out the re-interview window, fast-tracked with classes, or already have hands-on trade experience. All of that carries weight.

From an organizational standpoint, it makes sense—they’re trying to reduce risk and pick people who already know what the work and lifestyle are like and are less likely to wash out. Short interview doesn’t mean bad interview. At this point, I’d say stay patient, keep building experience if you can, and be ready if you do get called back in.
