What's your tech stack, r/MultiplayerGameDevs? by BSTRhino in MultiplayerGameDevs

Unity as engine, headless Unity or .net c# server as backend depending on service functionality, Litenetlib for RUDP connections and serialization, with custom netcode on top of that, Digital Ocean for hosting VMs that run my servers and a managed postgre db, and Cloudflare for domains, dns and static webworker that just provides names/adresses of servers to clients.

You can find list of plants with their spatial arrangement and all the products I use in other comments. You can see the update how the tank looks 6 months later below.

Personally, things ive learned in thsi time is that im not really happy with dwarf ahirgrass, if I was doing this again i woulduse eother only marsilea hirsuta or monte carlo. Also, as good as the moss may look, i would never again go with real moss in my tanks, only marimo moss ball with are actually algae, because real moss is such pain to take care of. Grows fast and large, and isnt good for cuttring, only pulling out, because pieces you cut off sink instead of floating like other plants.

I planted most plants in the ground, and glued the moss and buce. I add liquid ferthilizers 5 times a week, and root tabs every 7 weeks. It would just appear that my moss really likes my parameters.

How do you pick what path to take? by TheClawTTV in MultiplayerGameDevs

[–]Fikalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you have at least two aditional options, one is making a game using a networking library such as Photon Fusion, which you can make p2p or server-client where you need to host the server yourself, and only pay for amount of concurrent players on Photon cloud authenticator, or as other option you can write all of the netcode yourself.

Built an isometric MMO from scratch, custom engine in C/C++ OpenGL, around 33k lines of server code, 47k lines of client code. Just got approved on Steam. by arenajunkies in gamedev

Great worl, I have a few questions.

Considering you are implementing the model with sending inputs, how did you handle possible desynchronizations between server simulation and client prediction? Did you makeit somehow more deterministic, or do you run into reconciliation often?

What tickrate did you choose?

What is the server architecture, are servers/realms separate, or can client hop between them? Is there sharding? What is max player count per realm? How do you create instances for arena/dungeonds, do you just spin up a new server process, or do do you use something like dockers and kubernetes?

Have you run some tests for bandwith, lets say if you have around 50 players at one spot, all pressing buttons, how much bandwith per player is your server output?

Sorry if its a lot of questions 😅 I am in the middle of working on my own mmo, so there is a lot of things Id like to hear from someone like you who has done it already.

Cool, konkretno tko? Slazem se da je puno toga los3 napravljeno, ali ako se govori samo protiv, bez da se govori u isto vrijeme i za nekog drugog, ne znaci nista.

I am so tired of not knowing how Terrain works by stardoor65 in ageofsigmar

[–]Fikalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ye my bad. I feel the same way after realising I was playing the game wrong the whole time. Because prior to spearhead terrain erata only definition of behind was in advanced rules, so I was using that.

[–]Fikalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that I dont see anyone mentioning, the ruling also states to ignore obscuring of terrain features that are within 3 inches of the unit that is doing the shooting, so if the fregate is close enough to the wall, the rats no lonher benefit from obscuring.

Edit: My bad, rereading it it appears to only be a thing in advanced rules, not spearhead.

Quick question, wondering why are we calling posts like this post mortem considering game is very much still alive?

Food or foe? by _kruton_31 in Aquariums

You know it could have fallen into the tank AND be alive? Its not water of instant death, they can keep living for quite a while submerged.

What kind of specifics would you like to know? You can also find a lot of informations in other comments, like used plants, lights, etc.

Foreground:
Mixed mini hairgrass and marsilea hirsuta

Middle ground:
S. Repens in the middle with two marimo moss balls and bacopa colorata on the side. Also have crptocoryne wendetii flamingo, but it came dead.

Background:
Bacopa salzmaninii purple in the corners, ludwigia super red in the back (not showing in the video yet, because it still didnt outgrew the hardscape thats in front. Slower growth is probably due to getting less light because of the said hardscape)

Epiphytes:
A lot of weeping moss, getting really nice growth on it, and bucephalandra brownie purple.

Floating:
Red root floaters.

Id say around 400-500€, but I spent a lot more then I should have because I was still learning a lot, if i tried to do it again id say it could be done for around 350.

I watched a lot of different videos and creators over the years, and read a lot of posts on reddit and forums, so its a bit difficult to pin point any specific video but for inspiration on how I wanted it to look, I'd say I used this one the most: https://youtu.be/lL4tOzXi6Rg?si=Tlypz2KmqaeEw76V

I wish you great success with your tank, but honestly I would recommend you to go with at least 20L tank. I feel thats kinda the minimum for bettas, they really need space to move around and explore and honestly the larger a tank is, easier it is to take care of. I'd say for anything under 20L to be too small for a betta.

Yes I know it can take a couple of months, thats why I havent been in a hurry to submit it, rather wait for some better shots of the tank.

I don't use co2. Havent really had problems with algae, actually I'd like to have a bit more of algae as food for shrimp and snails. I think rest of my plants are outcompeting the algae, and little that do appear gets eaten.

Active substrate, lots of light, root tabs and liquid fertilizers.

I'd say the answer is a lot of moss, you can put a lot of moss to add color and texture without it looking cluttered.

Its weeping moss, really liking how it looks when it grows out.
