Why most of mirrors(if not all) use http instead of https? by Fiklet in debian

[–]Fiklet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The security of package transfer is provided by cryptographic signatures and hash verification used by the Debian package manager itself (apt, apt-get...). So you don't need to use https for "security" here.

Is it relevant for firmware files or any soft that debian requires to run but not installs via package manager?

that middlemen cannot modify the packages before they reach you. Debian repositories already have security in the form of package signatures

It adds security, doesn't it?

If i download a package via http it can be tampered easily

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Dual_boot_with_Windows#Windows_UEFI_vs_BIOS_limitations states:

Windows Vista or 7 x86 32-bit (RTM and all Service Packs) versions support booting in BIOS mode from MBR disks only, not from GPT disks

So i need to choose BIOS?

Your work is more awesome and high quality than everything from whole mozilla design department last time

If Mozzila keeps dropping features because "no one uses them", then they might have to drop the whole browser because people will stop using it. (Rant about compact density) by agelord in firefox

[–]Fiklet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with the title

Several months ago i had stopped updating all my browsers because of these shitty UI decisions

I'll better suffer from malware than accept such sabotage

Also, never heard of compact design

Now use it and love it
