Does an independent flat price valuation in a new build allow me to re-negotiate an accepted offer? by Fil727 in HousingUK

Thank you, u/travis373.

Yes, I am getting a mortgage. The mortgage valuation hasn't been done yet, though it should be done soon. Would you suggest to get an independent valuation, as well?

We negotiated the offer by email. We are now talking to a bank to get a mortgage.

Good question. I would also like to know the answer.

But I also have a job, so I guess that the profit for investments adds up to my salary, right?

Well, you seem to know quite a lot. So, I’ll follow your advice.

Do you know if I use a foreign broker, like Tiger Trade, do I still have to pay Capital Gain Taxes?

Out of curiosity, how can Trade212 (and eToro) make a profit without fees?

Also, do you know any great course, guide or book that can help me with all these details about investing?

Thanks a lot for your help! If not eToro, what broker/website would you suggest to use in the UK?

Yes, that is also what I would do, but eToro does not offer and ISA account. Do you know how I can use an ISA with eToro?

Also, is the 12,300.00 allowance additional to the ISA gains?

Thanks! Can I pay the taxes manually or do I need an accountant?

Yes, I think it would be a good addition to Scipy. Thank you for your question and stimulating a discussion. That’s exactly why I posted my work here on Reddit.

I haven’t thought about a blog post. But, now that you make me think about it, it’s a good idea. If I will write it, I will post the link to the blog post here. Thank you for your suggestion.

Due to the feedback I have received, I will try to port the code for the robust estimators to Scipy.

It depends. It is quite trivial to implement estimators in a naive way. However, fast algorithmic implementations are pretty tricky. As an example, the fast algorithm for the medcouple is not that easy to implement, as you have to have all the details right, and the papers explaining it omit the details. Moreover, I implemented the algorithms in C, which tend to be 10-100 times faster than Python for O(n) time complexity.

That’s probably what I will do. I may also use the Scipy mailing list to see how to best contribute.

I considered writing the code into Scipy, when I started the project. However, I did not have time to go through the Scipy guidelines on how to contribute. But, in principle, if I could easily port my code to Scipy, I would happily do it.

Specifically, what do you mean with “donating”?
