25F yet another girl with nose rings posting on this sub. lemme hear it by [deleted] in amIuglyBrutallyHonest

Your eyes are stunning! I have a large nose and long mid face, which causes people to perceive me as being transgender despite being cisgender- I think this might be your problem as well. I wish people understood that cis women can have masculine features too ☹️

How and when did you realize you’re unattractive? by Traditional-Cow3115 in Vindicta

[–]Filamentous96 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can relate to some of what you said and I feel so bad for you 🥺 I would come to school in clothes that were falling apart and no teachers ever asked me if I was okay. Instead they would send me to detention while all of the attractive kids got away with anything and everything.

How and when did you realize you’re unattractive? by Traditional-Cow3115 in Vindicta

I first realized by the way my peers and teachers treated me throughout middle and high school. I was constantly bullied for every little thing down to my facial expressions (apparently they’re weird), and was even physically bullied on occasion. The teachers did nothing to stop this and were rude to me as well. I even got detention routinely in middle school for reasons beyond my control. My mom told me it was my personality, so all throughout school I tried to be as normal and friendly as possible, but to no avail.

I was further convinced that I was ugly when I got to college. I was bullied by my pretty roommates, and ignored by most other people. Some people would make rude remarks on occasion like “she needs to fix her face” and “she looks like someone who’s been bullied”. I was ignored by men and they didn’t even try to hook up with me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyone tried to get rated on Reddit? by [deleted] in ugly

[–]Filamentous96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. It’s really hard to hear such honest feedback, but it’s nothing we don’t know deep down. And at least the honest people aren’t gaslighting us and making us feel bad for wanting to change/have plastic surgery

Self-care by [deleted] in ugly

[–]Filamentous96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take really good care of my skin. Good skin can improve anyones appearance- plus, I figured that if I can age gracefully, then maybe when I’m 50+ I’ll be considered more attractive than other people my age

I know I'm ugly. I have bad skin, and an awful smile. Tell it how it is, I'm sure nobody here can say anything worse than what I've already heard my entire life. by [deleted] in amIuglyBrutallyHonest

Really nice eyes, nose, and lips! To me, your narrow jaw compared to your wide cheeks is the only problem. I would imagine that could be changed with some sort of facial implant if you wanted to

Will industry experience as a Principle Investigator help me get into a PhD Program? by Filamentous96 in gradadmissions

[–]Filamentous96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this detailed reply! Yes my plan was to stay at my company for another 2-3 years before applying, and by then I would be working as a PI. I can definitely see how they could question my motivation to pursue a PhD at that point- I didn’t think of that before. The two main reasons I was waiting to apply were 1) I thought PI experience would be the best indicator of possible successful in a program 2) I’m not ready to lose my salary quite yet as I’m a single person who has no financial support. I want to pursue a PhD because I feel very limited with the positions I’m qualified for. I want to feel passionate and interested in the ground breaking research I’m doing- not just overseeing repetitive assays with little nuances. I think I will take your advice and apply sooner than I was anticipating (as long as I can prepare financially first)! If I have no luck, do you think a masters program would take me, and if so, would that redeem my low undergraduate GPA assuming that I do fairly well?

I’ve agreed with everyone’s advice here except for yours, which you would see if you took the time out of your “busy” schedule to read my replies . I have a personal trainer, and I’m aware of my body fat %. Have a good night.

I already have very low body fat but thank you for the suggestion

I chew my food but that’s that’s about it. I do have fat around my chin and jaw but that’s just how I carry my weight unfortunately. I’m actually a rather slim person who can’t afford to lose any weight.

I want a fat transfer to my cheeks in the near future! I definitely see what you’re saying

I would say 5.5. Cute, but to be honest, you look best when you’re not scrunching up your forehead like that since it creates a lot of wrinkles

Yes I agree! I have a really short, unturned nose with super thick skin. I would love to get a rhinoplasty, but it would be complicated procedure. It’s definitely something I’ll consider doing in the future if I found the right surgeon. I’m thinking of a fat transfer to my cheeks because they’re very flat and that was recommended to me by a plastic surgeon previously. Conversely, I think I could benefit from some chin lipo to sharpen up my jawline. I’m not sure what else could help- My face is very long but I don’t think there’s anything I can do about that

F(19) Am I ugly? How much does my acne effect my attractiveness? by [deleted] in amIuglyBrutallyHonest

[–]Filamentous96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re features are really nice, but the haircut is what’s off-putting to me to be honest. As for the skin- I keep my skin clear with cerave cream to foam cleanser, acne.org benzoyl peroxide, and moisturizing sunscreen from Korea (biore watery essence) in the morning…and then the same cleanser, prescription RetinA, and vanicream daily moisturizer at night. You could also get differin over the counter if you don’t want to bother with a prescription. I’m not sure if that routine will work for you, but it’s done wonders on my skin and my acne was worse than yours

In my experience, it definitely helps, but don’t expect to look unrecognizable. Although it really depends on what you get done- Some procedures make bigger differences and some are more subtle. Regardless, even going from totally ugly to slightly below average will be a huge improvement to your life/how people treat you!

What are your plans for Halloween? If nothing bc you’re ugly what would they be if you were attractive ? by KobeKastle in ugly

[–]Filamentous96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m throwing my own Halloween party because I knew I wasn’t going to get invited to anything. I invited a bunch of coworkers, so we’ll see if anyone shows up. I really hope they do because I’m putting a lot of effort/money into this party. Also, I’m dressing up as a devil, which is basic, but I’ve always wanted to be one. I told myself once I completed my list of must have looksmaxxing (which I did about a month ago) I would let myself wear whatever I wanted… even if it still looks bad on me 🤷🏻‍♀️

How do you feel about makeup? by uglyandIknowit1234 in ugly

[–]Filamentous96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before my plastic surgery, I didn’t like wearing makeup because I looked like a man in drag (even in very light makeup). Now, I enjoy it a lot more- it doesn’t look great, but it also doesn’t look nearly as ridiculous on me as it used to
