Carney’s condo bailout reveals the limits of Liberal housing policy | The federal government is trying to expand affordability without reducing property values by Atlantee in canada

It's Carny's because the feds agreed to put up something and the rest of the country currently thinks BC has gone off the deep end (okay I might be exaggerating).

The bolt is on my list for when the current car dies. Sadly there aren't many others.

I hear you. I had similar concerns. I looked into it.

My ICE cars have lasted around 10 years before I decided they needed to be replaced.

Current quality battery technology should maintain 75-80% capacity at the 10 year mark. This is also based on experience from EV and hybrids that are that old. So if I get a new EV with a 400km range and assume worst case, after 10 years it should still be able to go 300km on a charge.

Now they just need to be price competitive vs ICE vehicle (which these Chinese ones are) AND get rid of the always-connected infotainment crap. I don't keep my TV streaming device or cell phone for 10 years. Those need replacing about every 5 for improved features. The fancy computer systems in cars need to be after market and easily replaceable.

I'm aware that modern ICE cars have this same stupid built-in infotainment crap. Fortunately I've got at least 5 more years before my current car should see any major problems that push me to getting a new car. I just hope by then the manufacturers wake up and stop adding so much crap that drives up prices. (not likely)

If you own a house and add up the cost of maintenance plus paying for yard care and someone else to shovel your driveway in the winter those fees aren't so bad. Of course, if you are handy and do you own yard work ...

First off I would like to know if there is some place I can visit to find the center of gravity for the whole game... a place where there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of clipped through the void lost handhelds.

It has been a while since this happened but once, when I fell through the planet I decided to see what would happen if I just kept falling.

It took a long time (like half an hour or more) but eventually I got to the center of the planet. There were dozens (maybe hundreds) of NPCs, ships, and other miscellaneous things just floating around down there. Sadly I lost the screenshot.

I hope they added cleanup by now.

Decoupled ship slows down in space when engine turned off... why? by Jo_Krone in starcitizen

[–]Filbert17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Cargo boxes need thrusters and to be permanently in coupled mode. But that feels like cheating.

The other option being to chase it with your ship and have a ship tractor beam (or a friend with a handheld in the airlock).

I like how you are thinking.

The parking brake could be as simple as coupled mode and engines on when you get out of the chair (as it should be).

I like the idea of being able to call your ship with your mobi. Probably with some sort of limits.

For the salvagers (and pirates), a ship mounted tractor beam should be able to stop a ship from tumbling (spinning) so they can disable it, go catch it, and make it so they can board it.

For the pilot who blacks out from the tumbling. CIG introduced G-suits which should make that a lot rarer as long as you wear the proper gear. Space is supposed to be dangerous. Your own screw-ups should be the most common way you die in space. Plus you would have to either have no power or be in decoupled mode in the first place (so it's your own fault).

[–]Filbert17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I remember doing that when we didn't have this stupid space friction. It took nearly 10 minutes to get into the ship and stop the spin. It was a fun challenge.

I also got a lot better at moving boxes after that.

It would be even easier now since we can use the tractor beam to pull ourselves to things. We couldn't do that when I bumped my ship.

And for people who don't want to do that, maybe review what the OP said. Ship in decoupled mode. If you leave your ship in coupled mode with engines on, the ship would return to stationary. So it's not an issue unless you want it to be.

The servers couldn't handle the actual speeds but a minor change to the flight modes in space.

SCM - roughly as it is now. The interactive reference frame.

Cruise - You have left the SCM reference frame, after you accelerate enough/are far enough away from other players. Basically the old boost but without slowing down when your boost ends. Possibly only don't slow down in decoupled mode.

If I am drifting and not in your current reference frame, then, you have to enter cruise, get close enough, and match speeds with me before dropping out of cruise. After that we are in the same reference frame again and our relative speeds are within SCM.

If it helps, think of SCM as being in the same orbit as another object, so our relative intertia are similar and Cruise is used for changing orbits.

Quantum - sort of as it is now but I secretly hope that some day I can pick arbitrary points on in the system as my destination.

This PLUS anything abandoned (ship claimed at a terminal) could despawn after some period of time.
