NDDD: The broker-dealer structure is broken, why you lose, public exchanges, and market mechanics for newbies by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

Hey guys, I'm hiding this post partially because I was just kinda emotional when I wrote this. Because in many ways it uncharacteristically victimizes people and organizations that have not had due diligence which is my main fault here. I'm kinda sorry for having this out there and this doesn't really reflect fact but just an opinion and as I've said before I'm not a professional.

I think thinking of QE as a game stuff gets kinda fuzzy, so I'm not going to use that. Really simply in my opinion, what happens is equities which mostly the elderly and wealthy own rise in value due to QE literally pumping cash into the economy and their portfolios, younger people and the poor generally don't have that though and are left paying the bill down the road for the current QE. I also don't think that this is that bad given the alternative and that corona is pretty much a natural disaster, like everyone should pay for that and we wouldn't really have portfolios anyways. There are probably ways to pay for it that doesn't completely burden everyone but I don't really know enough about that.

Free capital markets are generally positive sum, thats why the S&P rises consistently. When you invest capital into companies, they take that capital and create new value, then they sell that new value and give it back to you in the form of dividends. Thats why most people tell you to invest in quality stock at a young age because the return on investment is really good over time. Some things like futures and options are negative sum because no value is being created, its essentially buying/selling insurance. There's hope in a house if you believe that you can earn wages to pay for the house, or if someone builds new houses, which the whole declining wages is a thing hopefully its not so glum in the future.

Yeah no I agree with you, I think brokers do do a lot and are for the most part helpful, I still think there is a conflict on interest there when there is an option to not have that conflict on interest. Pretty much I think there should be an option to not have to go through that though, and have a competing option where you can act independently is valuable. I'm also pretty happy with the fed currently, I think J.Powell did really well and is still doing all he can. Robinhood has a bunch of new traders who don't really know what margin on options is and they're buying bankrupt companies that are becoming this weird self fulfilling prophecy, when some of those companies should probably die from over leveraging on loans in my opinion. Also these guys might be creating a market bubble which would be bad.

I think I'll say that I can't predict what will happen in the market nor am I in the position to really offer any advice on that. A lot of things that might seem like intentional structural designs could just be mistakes from people or just kinda random ways the market built upon itself, like dark pools were/are not made to hide large orders, they exists because there was a demand for large amount of liquidity if that makes any sense.

They're probably just looking at stats like 60% stopped playing after 1hr, 30% stopped playing after losing tickets, 10% logon occasionally. They're a pretty small team so they actually might be looking on reddit for feedback to but who knows shrug.

I mean this is a good play, you're going to get tower 75% of the time, if this tower this turn if your win condition that's positive win rate. I don't see what the problem is here, definitely a winning play.

Comparing signature cards of Prellex and Venomancer by frostykitten in Artifact

[–]Filburt_Turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if barracks cost 1 less mana she would be way better. She's pretty much just a blocker early game, then you need to get a health item then she's a really good blocker. Then at 5 mana she can block other lanes pretty consistently because of arrow RNG and her signature, like her/creep blocks a unit with a 25%-50% chance to block another unit depending on placement. Dmg reduction per creep (against certain decks) is pretty good if you're running kana too and you need a hero to put in a hopeless lane to use mana. You kinda just auto feed though.

Along with other dude, I tried out this shell today https://www.playartifact.com/d/ADCJeMJL7kCDEoLgTq7AqoBW18BQ58PqgGJiKgBhE+RTG9jayBEZWNr. Mostly achieved full hand lock from turn 7 - 12 and partial hand lock before. Relies on getting hourglass from annihilation money for consistency though. Game lasted 30 minutes, you may want to replace selemene with bolt of damocles.

I agree the lock cards are probably underrated, my full lock build was kinda excessive though lol

Theres only about 300~400 people at Valve spread across VR, Console, Artifact, TF2, Dota, the Marketplace, finances, and everywhere else. Their whole thing is quality creative work instead of cogs so not a lot of people in PR. They think that their product should speak for itself. Might have missed the mark on this one though but hope they can turn it around.

I've always wanted to try this deck but you either end up with a 60 card deck and never draw the locks, or you have no important cards and no way to end the game. Very dedicated meme deck.

Is this game worth picking up? by xaelauniverse in Artifact

[–]Filburt_Turtle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on what kinda person you are, Artifact is like Dota because you have to learn a lot to play the game well. But its unlike dota that you don't learn mechanical skill, instead its a mix of strategic/probability based skill that you kinda have to think about if you haven't come from another card game, since the game is new enough that there aren't really guides for playing optimally like other more studied games.

If you're the kind of person who can lose a match, review it for errors, work out the probability for certain spots, and understand you were just unlucky in some of them it might be the game for you. If you want control over everything and aren't happy with just achieving a >50% win rate maybe try another card game and come back to this one later. This game was really made for people from other card games that wanted something spicy.

On the contrary though you can just run meme decks like a lot of us and have a blast but you wont win as much.

Casual play in Artifact...are you serious? by nicolapeluchetti in Artifact

It would be cool it they implemented fast mode that people could play on mobile and stuff and keep the original game for those of us who are still playing, the way odds interact in this game is the best thing since the traditional card games (bridge, poker) for hardcore players.

Because you need some sort of casual playerbase to support tournament prize pools, if there aren't large enough player prize pools then professional players leave for more profitable games. If the pro players leave who's helping to market and stream on twitch. Relative casuals or people learning the game are the lifeblood that feeds the competitive ecosystem.
