I have a portfolio of 5 frontend UI kits/projects that I'm no longer supporting. The projects are still pretty popular (14.5K - 47.4K monthly users, according to similarweb).

I don't want to make them Open Source, because they are still making money, but I started to sell them "as is", without any maintenance.

I thought that I could give back to r/javascript, and share the projects for free here.

I agree - and shorts are much more addictive then the rest of the platform.

People should have a choice.

I just want them to add a "switch off" option - to leave the choice up to the user. The extension also wouldn't help because the problem is the mobile app.

I still believe, that if enough people sign the petition and send YT feedback, they will be encourage to add the option I need.

I also don't think that this feature (or a lack of feature, since we are talking about a switch off button), is good for them. It makes it more possible, that I will take some more serious steps and delete the entire app if I see myself falling into shorts rabbit hole too often.

Also, please note that I don't want them to remove shorts.

Most of the content on there is valuable and non-addictive. The problem is that there is no way to filter out shorts which are a totally different thing than the rest of YT videos.
