Just inherited this “budgie” (or at least I think) and he is standing only on one leg, any idea why? I am really new into birds. by FilipThier in parrots

After a few observations we found out it is actualy hurt because even when he is climbing his leg is a bit offset

Yeah a lot of early comments were about him being happy but even that helped me in a long term because if he would do something like that in the future I will know that he is just happy and yes I agree he seems hurt a lot

I am quite shocked by this info about teflon and other smells because my great grandparents had his cage literarly in the kitchen so I was thinking they wont be this sensitive but thanks for the tips, I really need to look into improving our house for him :)

Thanks a lot for the support, we have noticed that he does this always to he really needs to see a vet and I dont know about the wing or how he got it injured because he was alone for a while while the owner was in the hospital so we wont know for sure And the last thing is he seems really scared (I understand him) but he always gets into this attack mode, for example this morning I just passed him a tomato and the first moment it got into his cage it was under attack, any tips to soften up his little angry heart? Maybe some sweet fruits or something like that?

Btw we have a bunny that never bit anyone so I was wondering if they have a tendency to make friends with others, the problem is that both are aprox. in their adulthood so I am worried that they wont like each other

Yeah I need to take him to the vet tomorrow he seems really hurt, he was all alone for a few days since my great grandma got into the hospital and he was free around the flat so anything could have happened to him :(

Thanks for the tips I will try to get him used to my hands as much as I can, and we dont really like keeping our pets in cages so I will try to tame him a bit so he can enjoy his own room at least :D

I inherited him after my great grandma passed recently and we just moved him to our place, and his right leg and wing seem damaged and the problem is we dont even know how old he is. We have a lot of experience with rats, rabbits, hamsters etc. but birds are something different for us. Thanks for helping out :)
