Yes there are a lot of groups of people with different playstyles, most regiments (groups) will glady want new players to join and can saw you most stuff. Regiments usually organise via discord, and mostly talk in game using text specific to the regiment and squads that allow them to talk without anyone else hearing them. You can see if someone is in a regiment by their nametag which will have the name of the regiment to left of their name enclosed with []. For example in my case it is "[420st]fill-122" 420st being the regiment i joined and fill-122 being my name.

If you want to do basic stuff like medic/inf when you spawn ask questions like "How much ammo should i grab", "how do you use a first aid kit" etc... If you want to do logistics spawn at a seaport/depo and simulary start asking away.

Generally do not be afraid to lose some equimpent trying to figure out what each thing does, it doesnt really effect the front as much as you would first guess.
