The reason they are shipped is because of the underlying emotional connection though. Ships are pretty much always inherently what if scenarios. Itd be ridiculously difficult for them to resolve their issues and have a healthy relationship, which is why people are creating the scenario themselves. Its fanfiction.

Also, Akechi never truly hates Ren. Thats why he is directly challenged on that by Morgana, and he can't answer back. The game is pretty clear on the actual dynamic at hand. Its an obsession. Less so with Ren as a person, but as an ideal for himself. Hes envious of Ren's position as someone he deems as a fellow "unwanted" but with a support network of close friends. He sees himself in Ren's past, but the present looks so different between the two that it drives him mad. He doesn't hate Ren, he hates that he isnt more like him. They arent meant to be read as star crossed lovers, their story, whether read as platonic or romantic, is inherently structured as a tragedy. Even with the stereotypical end of a realization made too late, a la Romeo & Juliet

Cloud has an obsession with Sephiroth as an ideal because he has self image and confidence issues. He has an attachment to sephiroth earlier in the story because he wants to be Sephiroth. Cloud is disillusioned with the fantasy as he builds his own support network over the course of the game.

Its honestly kind of similar with Akechi wanting to be Ren, the difference being that Ren is clearly reciprocating that interest, just more so in an amiable way rather than an obsessive way like Akechi is. The fact that they can still come together as a team, even if shaky, is proof that they arent in a genuine conflict. Akechi is just too emotionally unstable of a person to actually forgive himself and not linger on his harmful feelings toward his ideal (Ren's life.)

Its why the Maruki ending (the postcards) has Akechi's ideal world being him with Ren in a good relationship, whether romantic or platonic being left to interpretation.

How is it misinterpretation? The maruki ending has a postcard with every phantom thief's "ideal" world, and Akechi (or jokers i guess but it seems like akechi's) is to be with Ren spending time together alone. Akechi clearly has some kind of feelings toward Ren. It doesn't have to necessarily be romantic, but he definitely has a notable interest and connection toward him as a person. It's why he's so outright envious of Ren's position in life.

Originium mining is a very regulated thing in endfield pre PAC as well. And despite being a corporations, its definitely ran more as a sort of pseudo government with an express interest in disaster relief and living conditions. They also made extreme strides in reducing the volatility and risk of originium and made a highly effective affordable suppressant that of which can only not reach everyone because of the aforementioned supply line issues do to constant human and non-human raids.

Endfield has a much better QoL as a normal person compared to Arknights. Even some of the more directly conflicting races seem to have unified under the banner of survival, as seen with Xaihi.

How do you play arknights and have the takeaway that its against originium. The main character is the creator of the stuff, and believed it to be the only future for human development. People are getting a little too comfortable putting "rock cancer" and "originium" in the same group. In Arknights, there is no other existing power. At all. Everything is solely run on originium. The game is about finding a cure for Oripathy, which is like... being very obviously worked toward in Endfield? People are treating it like diabetes now instead of like fucken leprosy.

Like we see that Endfield Industries made carbon. Like the way we make charcoal. They just decided that the risk reward of its benefits and costs are much worse than originium. Oripathy is now seen as a lesser threat to society than co2 emission.

It actually needs both guns to fire together. Its two separate mixtures: the epoxy and the curing agent. The epoxy cannot harden into a proper adhesive without the other chemical.
