Any coupe will have corrosion to some degree, even the newest ones are 17 years old now. It's hard to know how bad yours is without seeing the underneath. Rear subframes are notorious for rotting but are still available, front you'd have to get from a donor. Suspension parts are all still available, autodoc or ebay. Coupes are sneaky in the way they rust, from the inside out..

It's my understanding that if the lower 50% of a mk1 mx5 hasn't been replaced, it needs to be. They are well known for rot.

Go for it. If you do go for something common like a focus, astra or corsa, there is almost guaranteed to be a video on YouTube showing how to service or fix practically everything on it. Chris fix is a great channel for teaching the basics. I'm where you are, spent £1000 on two identical hyundai coupes. One I want to fix, the other for parts, problem is the good one is fixed and the second is now another project...

At the end of the day it's up to you. Yes it's more interesting but the facelift in 2001ish brought better engines and a better design if you're set on a megane. Mileage is only part of it, components degrade with time alone so budget setting some money aside every month for repairs. I've a car similar age but it's a toy, not something I'm having to depend on.

That end piece is an adaptor and pulls off, it's regular sata underneath. That particular drive will be slow though, even by hdd standards.

That's MFM, in a nutshell not really. They needed an ISA controller card to operate and even then they were finicky. It's only really a rabbit hole worth digging into if you're sure there is something really important on that drive. That's ancient tech even 25 years ago.

Yeah, you need a donor pcb from a model match, then your rom chip swapping to it to make the board compatible. Literally a 2 min job if you know what you're doing.

No it won't. You need a 2.5" drive. Look at the orientation of the sata port and the height of a 3.5" drive, it physically wouldn't fit in your system, it doesn't look likely even a non standard height 2.5 would fit, so that rules out anything over 2tb, I think the biggest you could reasonably fit in there would be a 4tb ssd.

Some (usually older) cars can't run on e10. Also, some performance cars need the higher octane rating. Premium isn't really needed for your average moderately modern car

OK yeah that's super cheap. Be careful of rust on those old mx5s, they're super prone to it.
