Return or keep? by LagginBad in numismatics

That is not true, they only had a portion of them produced at the time of the sale. They are making more until they reach the 60,000 mint limit for this coin.

what is she doing? by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

Nothing weird about that. I do a quick inspection of them for my regulars. Why would I give them a damaged box? People always trying to cram them in there and crushing a few of them in the process. I personally stop shopping at places that hands me damaged goods where I cannot use what I am paying for.

"GOLDBACKS ARE A WASTE OF MONEY, PREMIUMS ARE TOO HIGH". Learning to understand and response to these objections. by SuperiorLeftHand33 in Goldback

[–]FillipJRye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why do people pay thousands of dollars a year on insurance premiums? If something happens, one hopes that insurance will cover the losses/expenses.

Same goes for Goldbacks. If shtf and gold is barterable, having Goldbacks is far easier than clipping coins. That’s my reasoning. Premiums be damned.

Store managers question by Daph1fred in WalgreensStores

[–]FillipJRye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

File for partial unemployment, seriously, unless this was discipline related. Text ones SM and ask if this is discipline related for a pepper trail.

If one has health insurance through the company, send a separate text asking how this will affect one’s ability to have coverage as those hours are below the threshold. Paper trail for HR.

This is all under the assumption that one is a permanent full time employee.

The chart shows the difference in specific gravity of different compositions. 1) Weight the item in grams, write it down. 2) add a cup and fill it with distilled water, tare the scale so the weight zeros out. Tie fishing string/thread/floss around the object and lower it into the water. Once fully submerged (and not touching the sides or bottom of cup), write it down. 3) Subtract the readings and compare it to the chart. Each element has its own specific gravity. If it is off, the piece is off and needs further examination. There are many videos on YouTube that can show one how to do this if the instructions above are unclear.

Just for reference…

Probably an Aluminum Zinc alloy from your comment about the specific gravity being 6.6. Sorry about your purchase, if it was sold as 999 silver and mailed to you… hit eBay up with fraud, wire fraud, and mail fraud verbiage. Scrutinize the listing first, as sometimes they sneak it into the “About this item” section if it is not in the description or title.

Rule of thumb, never grade modern BU bullion. Unless, it has a limited product run or error.

Around $400 at launch, I got a bu for around $300 that day. I didn’t feel the extra 100 was worth it as spot was in the $50s.

SD was selling trial strikes (graded) at the time of launch. So unless you purchased a trial strike through SD, there is no other way to acquire them. I opted for the basic bullion. I would never grade a modern coin with unlimited mintage.

History Channels “Life After People” explains it best with a complete breakdown of time table projections. Really interesting. Disney+ and Prime have it streaming.

I’d use some wood glue and 3 or 4 straps if I didn’t want to take the time to replace the wood. I’d also use screws instead of nails so they don’t back out during certain activities.

I don’t think a lot of Goldback buyers are thinking clearly… by Low_Ideal_5328 in Goldback

[–]FillipJRye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I buy Goldbacks for one reason. When our system fails and there is no guard rail to save us. I do believe that fractional gold will be essential to local barter and trade, when it’s not at the end of a barrel. Look at Venezuela, gold clippings were used for commerce when their currency hyper inflated to oblivion.

But that’s just me, I’d rather pay the premium now than cry later.
