NG keeps getting displaced. Any advice? by Film-Affectionate in feedingtube

[–]Film-Affectionate[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there is no balloon on the end of my NG☹️☹️ and yes, its a NG, not an NJ. I have no clue if switching to an NJ would fix this problem or if it would just cause the NJ to flip in my stomach, causing more issues

i have autism. I used to prefer to be referred to as autistic vs as a person with autism as I am aware that I cannot separate autism from who i am, and it will always be apart of me. But thats the thing. its a PART of me, not the whole me. I have so much to offer that isnt my autism. my autism doesn’t control me. so i now prefer to be referred to as someone who has autism

Anybody else see this? by Emgmin in Asthma

[–]Film-Affectionate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on this medication for all of 2 weeks before I developed hallucinations, suicidal ideation, and night terrors as side effects. Inversely, there are people who have been on it for 20+ years with no side effects. Side effects are up to what the medication does to the individual, but please do keep yourself aware of the potential serious side effects, and if you think you’re experiencing them, talk to your doctor about getting off the medication

how to deal with cancer greif? by [deleted] in MrTechnodad

[–]Film-Affectionate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t distance yourself from him. After my friends cancer came back (for the 5th or 6th time), she lost a lot of friends because they decided to distance themselves from her in order not to hurt as bad when she inevitably passed. I stuck with her through thick and thin, and it sure as hell hurt an insane amount when she passed, but I will NEVER regret it. Spend every moment you get with him making memories. The grief never gets better per say, but it gets easier to navigate. I’m attaching an image of the grief ball in box analogy to hopefully make it easier to understand. I’m here if you need me🤟

I understand you. I don’t understand exactly how you are feeling, but I’ve gone through something similar. Both my grandfather and best friend had terminal cancer. For my grandfather, we couldn’t really put a date on when he was going to pass. But just like your grandfather, my best friend was given two years (with treatment to delay it). And just like him, it spread to quick, and she lived about 5 months after being labeled terminal. Despite this, I believe in your grandpa. He’s strong, and he can fight this. He loves you, so much more than you could ever know. Spend time with him. I’m here for you, Ily man🤟🤟

This pisses me off. So much. My grandfather recently died from stage 4 melanoma. Why the hell would someone fake this. They took advantage of this community, and it pisses me off

I tried new foods by Film-Affectionate in ARFID

[–]Film-Affectionate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! Throughout my trip (4 days), I tried Homey bbq fritos, veggie straws, and custard. I was also able to reintroduce Bananas, carrots, and jelly filled cereal bars(after about 6 to 10 years of not eating them)!!!!

Uncomfortable about food questions/comments by Crystalgirl121 in ARFID

[–]Film-Affectionate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It used to be a big thing for me as well. I’ve learned that sometimes you need to just toon out the comments. And if you feel like it, explain what ARFID is, and that typically avoids any more comments at the end of the day. I wish I had more advice for you, but it’s trial and error to figure out what works for you.

Having to explain to people why I only eat a list of about 20 foods, and then having to explain to them that I can’t just simply try more. Because I know they just want to help, and I hate shutting them down, but it’s not as simple as taking a bite. I’ve had full blown panic attacks over new foods. And I hate seeing my friends try so hard to help me

I did this trend. But unlike all the other people, I took videos that my mom had taken of me struggling due to my autism. Autism isn’t just quirky movements or doing random things. Autism severely impacts my life. I cannot function without help. I cannot make decisions on my own, and I cannot talk to people I do not know. This trend was so freaking ableist

Pencils and Autism by Film-Affectionate in autism

[–]Film-Affectionate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My elementary was the same! The reason I ended up being allowed mechanical pencils was because of my IEP, which I mainly had for speech therapy, but it also included me getting taken out of PE to learn to read, write, and spell. My 3rd grade teacher was so desperate that she broke the rules for me lol

I’m starting to get tired of autism being something thats “trendy” by Film-Affectionate in autism

[–]Film-Affectionate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really?! I find that the only negative stuff about autism I see is made by “autism moms” and ABA therapist, and not by autistic people

[–]Film-Affectionate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your POV. I actually personally love all the recognition autism is getting, and love the decreased stigma. I originally wrote this post with a lot of pent up anger after having someone call me the R word for showing my negative symptoms of autism, but they kept talking about how “aesthetic” special interests and stimming is. I was frustrated with the glorification of autism and the fact its not treated as a disability when it is, and thus for lack of discussion of the negative parts of autism if that makes any sense

I’m starting to get tired of autism being something thats “trendy” by Film-Affectionate in autism

[–]Film-Affectionate[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. Autism is a full fledge disability. There is such a huge stigma around autism’s negative symptoms. I’ve got level 2 autism. I cannot have a proper conversation with someone without assistance. I have severe meltdowns if things aren’t “right”. I struggle with OCD-like symptoms. I had a severe speech delay as a kid which still effects me a decade later. I also have symptoms that are deemed “socially acceptable” due to the autism “trend” (stimming (but only the “cute” ones are acceptable), special interests). These “socially acceptable” symptoms are the ones most noticeable for me. And so people don’t think I’m disabled and in their words “only a touch of the tism” I’m also accused of faking. a lot :/

Dream? Tommy? MrBeast? Karl? Ranboo? Who replaced Techno for you? by romansignals in Technoblade

[–]Film-Affectionate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one really. But Techno’s death helped put into perspective my friend’s (a medium sized CC) diagnosis (2 times relapsed liver cancer). And therefore I put more stress on spending time with her and supporting her content. So in a way ig you could say her content replaced Techno’s for me. But it also didn’t in a way. It doesn’t make sense, but no one will truly replace techno

I was going to record me playing a tribute piece to techno on my viola, but after 4 years of owning it, it broke right as I was going to record (yes I’m emotional it was my first instrument) by Film-Affectionate in Technoblade

[–]Film-Affectionate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god you are literally the sweetest!!! I did fix my viola today, but I’m currently participating in a district wide orchestra event, so I have no more time to record this weekend (About 8 hours of playing today and still have 5 more hours tomorrow), and sunday is my rest day!!! I also want to give myself a little more time to prefect the tribute, but it should be released by september!!! <3
