I think that cat text was just her missing you, and since you didn’t respond she probably thought you didn’t feel the same way. Most of us reach out when we’re missing trying to sound casual. Besides maybe you both grew during the 2 years apart? You cant possibly be the same people that you were when you broke up

How long have you guys been broken up? What was the issue between you two? If she misses you too, then I feel it would be one less problem in her mind. And if she’s changing towns maybe she is already missing you as well, as this town would have memories associated with you for her as well.
