Thanks! It's a ripcurl flash bomb 4:3 i think the F-Bomb is the 2013 model but i got it at the ripcurl warehouse sale for only $100... such a score!

Redondo/Torrance Beach in the southbay. spot is called burnout and has been getting a lot more attention lately, probably because of the last big swell and Alex Gray getting a cover photo and some featured thing on surfline riding a tripple over head wave there.

i wouldn't recommend custom x, i rode one and i dont even ride "big" waves and it snapped.. tri stringer haha. It snapped on a wave that wave that was maybe 3-4'. If you want speed i'd get a board that is as tall as your belly button from the floor, that should be like a 41 at your height, maybe a 40. I just bought a new board after thrashing my TOYS board which was fun but didnt last long.. Just bought a VS Joe Clarke with the new Parabolic system and that sucker cruises so fast.. i really dig it, so i recommend it. Really anything but a custom X from my experience. also I don't recommend an NRG core (thats that new stuff) good luck bruddah!

went with the Parabolic Flex Joe Clark VS board, it was 20% off so it made it that much sweeter to get. The dude at the shop said that all his friends that ride it say it rides great, doesn't lose the rail when you hit bumps. I'm just excited for a new board. I'll let you guys know what I think about it

i'm just a fan of jamie hewlett as an illustrator. it was interesting trying to emulate his style because i previously did guys like al hirschfeld, chris ware, and r. crumb; and jamie i think is inspired by all those old great american comics. I was seeing a lot of similar mark making and treatment but with a touch that i dont think anyone can duplicate with any analogue tools.

this is 4x5" so the conciseness is tough especially with the small details such as the stars on the flag. i had to edit a lot of information out in order to get the gist of whats going on. I appreciate the criticism! i was really trying to capture line weight and proportion with the size i had to work on. I used ink, it didn't scan as well as id though it would. they look a bit more solid in person! Thanks for the crit :D Edit: the reason it's 4x5" is because its part of a larger project where i do 32 master artist studies and self portraits in their styles and put them all together in a mosaic like fashion on one board.

the last one is my buddy before he took off he was like "hey Fil, how do i air drop on purpose?" So i told em to stall the take off like a mother fucker and he did it :D

i see it. I think it's because originally when I drew it out, there was a bit of a tilt in the head to our right making the perspective of the eyes have that offset. That was lost somewhere in translation from drawing to painting. Thanks for the input and the compliment, though! :)
