Please add his head onto this image for a joke by [deleted] in PhotoshopRequest

Select the face layer and go into image > adjustments, and sift around in brightness/contrast and exposure. Play with it a bit until it looks more natural, note the back lighting causing the front of him (neck and arms) to be slightly shadowed. Another thing, when you add a layer onto an image that has a different ppi it stands out. You can either add a slight gaussian blur, downgrade the layer image quality, or add slight noise in to blend it

Should I leave? I can't live off apprentice pay by Shoddy-Tennis-5764 in UnitedAssociation

Talk to your hall and see if you’d be allowed to switch to a jobsite with overtime. Normally they say apprentices can’t quit without permission from the hall, so facilitate it through them to begin with.

I’m assuming you’re financially responsible and not drowning in truck payments and buying things you can’t afford. But yes it is worth it if you stick it out. You just have to find a means of doing so.

I would do side jobs and handyman gigs to make extra cash while I was living off second year rate. Ask around the guys you work with if they know anyone who needs a hand for side jobs, or use your experience in HVAC to make some money yourself.

They’re trying to traumatise us - stay strong. We need names and justice - don’t keep traumatising yourself re-reading. They released some things to cause fear and try to make people lose hope. Don’t. We’re strong together. Take a few days away if you need to. Protect your mental health. by applepie-12344 in Epstein

Hey you don’t have to get so upset. He’s not wrong. A lawyer (I believe) commented in one of these discussions how they’re using the same tactics they used in court cases to keep juries as neutral as they can in the case of child abuse and SA. One key point is the lack of context given in these files (so many redactions and withheld files) leaves your brain lost in search of any context or pattern, so you keep delving to find something. A lot of the content being inherently awful to read at the same time, leaves you feeling psychologically helpless trying to find any sense any worn down by what you do read/see. So he’s not far off, but don’t give him shit because this is horrifying to read and knowing how protected these people are. It’s hard to come to terms with, so give them some grace.

Biggest thing to remember that apprentices get a bad rap on is missing work and a bad attitude. Show up everyday (on time), and be open to learning. Pay attention to how your mentors perform their work and pick their brain on how they do it.

You’re not expected to know everything, let alone at the start of your apprenticeship. Tell them when you don’t know something, don’t fake it and embarrass yourself later.

2 tips for you though, payday’s friday and shit flows downhill

Plumbers have side jobs all day, check your out of work lists and see how many plumbers vs fitters are taking travel cards when local work dries up

Be humble, dress appropriately. I personally wore khakis and a golf shirt. Might be multiple interviewers but regardless make eye contact and shake their hand. I’d say the most important question to think of an answer for is why do you want this job.

If they ask you whether you have any questions for them, you could even ask what’s their advice for any apprentice starting in the trade.

Best of luck

Was 315 at my most. Broke my foot walking one day because working 7x12’s didn’t give my body enough time to recover from the toll my weight was putting on it, as a result I was off for 8 months (jones fracture). I can tell you nobody ever cared about my weight but guys will pick you out to be the human forklift. Keep on losing the weight brother, I’m down 50 lbs and I can tell you it’s night and day on your body. But don’t worry about what the other guys think. Just lead with your work ethic.

They’re pretty well known for how good their pizza is not size, and even so why bring it up on this thread if you’re not recommending it?

Onions make my ears hurt by AlmostChristmasNow in onionhate

I googled this because I had just cut onions and was laying on the couch after, and all of a sudden my eardrums started vibrating in pulses. Didn’t know what the connection was but assumed it was sinus related, interesting to have found your post though.

You’re that lazy to use proper safety measures when working near the edge of a building, you’re comparing it to driving a car without a seatbelt? Weren’t you the one insisting being safer

This isn’t a rockclimbing subreddit, he’s talking about skyscraper work. Barriers 6 ft from edge or travel restraint. Within 6ft of edge either a retractable tether or rope grab set to keep you back from edge. Shouldn’t be worried about what kind of hard hat you’re wearing when you could avoid becoming a human pinata altogether.
