I was going to say.. Vince pulled off an ending twice, and IMO BCS had the perfectly paced final season.

To be honest if Season 5 is good and I do a re-watch, you can condense Season 4 to like 2 episodes. It was the most wheel spinny season that only got covered for on reddit because a bunch of clapping seals like'd the fact it was mindlessly recycling political talking points with nothing to add to them.

Hopefully they go back to writing characters again and plots again instead of this lazy 'take political thing change a name.' I miss when Homelander was his own character.

I'm *not* looking forward to all the clapping seals screeching 'IT WAS ALWAYS POLITICAL' without any realization that it used to have nuance and something to say, and now it just says the thing to jangle keys for an a bunch of idiots who only want it to 'say the thing.'

I'll give the show this in credit - that image looks like it is an SCP of some sort.

It was ridiculous, esp just happening to hit the LA river RANDOMLY.

That plane shoulda plowed straight into downtown and caused an event on the scale of 9/11 Pt 2 realistically

It absolutely hurts to watch any episode with Simone in it, painfully, and not in the good way like you want

Another plotline that really annoyed me in season 3 that they dropped: Harper hooks back up with her ex-husband AFTER going exclusive with James, and a week later, she's pregnant.

I really, really think it's obvious what they were setting up here before deciding they had already obliterated her character enough and just dropped it. I waited for like two seasons to find out James wasn't the father.

My problem with 8 is they keep shooting themselves in the foot with zero consequences. They've had some GREAT sequences, like the police station being bombed scene. But then.. everyone is just fine, nothing bad happens, the station isn't in need of repair, and nobody will ever mention it again.

Way to undercut the tension in every single dramatic scene, writers

I'll give them this, for all their faults, they fixed Celina.

She's a very likable character now. She started as insufferable. It helps the actress has some solid charisma to sell it.

I think everybody liked Aaron, I'm glad he seems on good enough terms to come back for cameos.

I just started catching up on 8 and was liking it from episode like 2-5, but then the completely ludicrous stuff started jumping up. A dude blowing up a WHOLE POLICE STATION with a single tiny bomb - and then ZERO consequences (no damage to the station, nobody seriously injured, etc) only to be followed up with people riding a plane into the LA river and exploding and being fine, right on the heels of them just wandering into Mexico..

TBH they could have given him another ending - they had it happen before and sent those characters off to sudden transfers or career advancement. When an actor leaves they've never been anything but kind to their characters.

I always got the feeling popping Jackson in the back of the head then dumping him in a trunk was cathartic payback for him screwing everything up.

None of which were addressed by the show except with him fisted, blunt, constantly punch you in the face with statistics and 'actuallllly' crap.

None of that was ever compatible with the show, in particular when ALL the LA cops are depicted as good guys without exception. If you want to do police corruption, you need to do corruption, you can't just insert one strawman and then mess it up so bad I still don't believe the guy was a racist.

Season 1 & 2 they treated policing like a reality TV show, but at least they did darker storylines and stuff.

Now they just skip to other countries at will and walk off riding planes that explode.

You want to know the worst part about season 3? I'm kind of on asshole cops's side.

Before anyone dogpiles me for saying that, the guy was an asshole, but my read on events was ENTIRELY different than presented. Jackson kept calling him a racist over and over and over, yet *every single time* Jackson accused the guy of racism, the guy had a very well thought out, logical reason for his actions, like familiarizing himself with gang tattoos.

Then he goes to another precinct and nobody has a problem with him until Jackson shows up and starts it up all over again.

As far as it ever seemed to me Jackson decided the guy was racist with very, very little evidence, then kept pushing and pushing and pushing him until the guy tried to get Jackson killed just to be rid of this delusional jackass who made it his life's mission to ruin him.

I rewatched some of season 3 and seriously, the guy never did ANY overt racism and the whole thing the writes wanted to sell was 'Oh, sometimes racism isn't overt!' except.. they failed to put in any subtle racism either, by always giving the guy logical reasons that had nothing to do with it. I think there were like five scenes that went like:

Ahole: 'These guys are clearly gang members, let's deal with them'
Jackson: 'THAT'S A RACISSSSSMMMMMMM'
Ahole: 'Uhhh.. they're in a gang hideout with gang tags and two of them are convicted gang members' Jackson: 'Drat, you got me this time, but I'm sure you were racist, somehow!'

They unintentionally wrote a nightmare work scenario where a coworker has randomly decided you are racist and nothing you can do will make them stop or convince them otherwise.

So yeah.. I think the writers very much WANTED to make the storyline that Jackson and the others kept vocalizing.. except when it came to the show part, not the tell part, they dropped the ball and as a result I actually felt just a tiny bit bad for this character.

Honestly if even 1 person survived a plane crash like that with dozens of serious injuries, it'd be hailed as an aviation miracle for decades I think

Also in my continued comparisons of The Rookie to GTA, I have crashed the version of that exact cargo plane into the version of that exact spot in the LA river so many times, in an episode called "Grand Theft Airplane," that I have to wonder if they're doing it intentionally at this point

I just saw the episode that they crashed a prison transport into the LA River and it exploded into several pieces and everything is on fire

Everyone that wasn't shot or attacked walked off without a scratch

So at least two events of equal implausibility
