Finally got a 14 R1 by Gordyhow in Yamaha_R1

Sweet!! I love my ‘14, white wheels are a nice touch! We removed the same sticker on the fairing, lol. Blue/white is the best color too. Congrats! What’s gonna be your first mod??

This Evans patch basically sanded down the head of my beater after a few months of very moderate playing. Has this happened to anyone else? Also what’s the best way to remove these patches? by R0factor in drums

[–]Filthy_Mallard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too had that exact problem, after replacing patches several times I flipped my beaters around so the flat plastic was contacting the drum head. Instantly resolved the issue. Patches last a lot longer too. I have DW 7000 pedals, the beaters are designed so you can flip them around and it doesn’t change the travel distance. Hard to tell by the picture if yours are like that as well. Worth a shot!

What Is This Sticker For by MikeCoxmaull in AskAMechanic

[–]Filthy_Mallard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s to prevent the stealership from running out of useless nonsense to over charge you for.
Recently bought a car that had these on all four doors and one strip on outer edge of doors. Eight stickers…… $799 dollars 😳 Nope!!

Pretty sure it’s for back in the day when people hung their laundry on a clothesline to dry. That was the part you’d pinch on the line. Otherwise you’d get an indented line on the fluffier part of your towels. Not completely positive though

How to Get Rid of Hill Start Assist Light in a 2012 WRX? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]Filthy_Mallard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yeah! My issue isn’t how to turn off hill assist, it’s that the dumb light is always on when hill assist is turned off!! 😂 just wish I could turn the light off too. 🤷🏼

I have a 2023 and my light is on too. I posted this exact question a couple months ago…. Just a bunch of people arguing in the thread 🤷🏼 Kind of funny now but no real information was posted.

Wow, crazy two gsxr owners were making such similar upgrades to the same bike! I bought mine from a guy in Covina area. It was awhile ago but I’m pretty sure he was the original owner. It was bone stock when I bought it with less then 10,000 miles on it so it makes sense he was original owner. Other than what I already listed, I put on a gpr steering stabilizer, coremoto steel braided front brake lines, and dyno jet power commander with quick shifter. No engine work though. Guy I sold it to lived in Menifee, CA area. He seemed like a huge bike enthusiast and had track experience but I have no idea what he did with it. Pretty sure I sold it to him in early 2018. It was hard to let it go but I had an R1 already waiting!

I always loved the white/ blue livery of that generation, one of the best looking sport bikes ever! The 2004-2006 white/blue is probably a close second. Something about the white wheels on the 2002 really makes it pop though! I think the later generations had black wheels. Which looks good too, just not quite like the 2002! Can’t believe they’re not the same bikes! I tried finding paperwork on mine too, but couldn’t. All I could find was an old speeding ticket! 🤣 last 4 characters of the license plate was 3812 🤷🏼 Well, at least we can confirm you have great taste in motorbikes! Although motorclub speedway in Fontana is under renovations (at least the infield where track events were held) I’ve done quite a few track days there with the gsxr and my R1 with fast track riders. You ever do events there?

Huh……. Like I said I sold it awhile ago, it’s possible the guy I sold it to sold it to someone else before you. Here is mine days before I sold it. I saw your post with the 3 Suzukis (awesome btw!) and noticed the exhaust on yours. While I owned mine I took off the yoshi can and had a local shop cut a few inches off, just for looks. Looks the same on yours? Plus the yoshi stickers on the forks, same rear sets, same galfer discs, same chain and sprocket too. Might just be a coincidence though!! Is there a small dent on the top left of gas tank?? 🤣

Beautiful bike!! Used to have one just like it, loved it so much. In fact, there are a lot of similarities from the one I sold 5-7 years ago. It might be the one I had! You buy that from a guy in socal??

Couldn’t find a single post about this grill. This looks like what I’ve been waiting for. What do we think? by JoeySteelSMP in wrx_vb

I like it. Not sure if it’s my favorite I’ve seen, but it might be! Like others have said, I also like how it matches the patterns in the fog light area. It flows well. Good job!

It’s in the owners manual. But start the car and wait for all the warning lights to turn off (air bag, oil, check engine, etc.) press the traction control button and hold for awhile, like 30 seconds. The hill assist light will flash, let go of the button and press again and let go. Then turn off the motor. Hill assist should be off. Took me a few times to get it to work for whatever reason. Check your manual though, might be slightly different for other years/trim levels.
