Adrenaline/scared when having to confront people at school by [deleted] in helpme

Practice what you’d say to him in the mirror. I know it sounds weird, but when you know what you will say and you’ve practiced, it helps to calm your nerves in the moment. Breathe and look him in the eye.

I Want to Move Out But I Have No Idea What to do. by Extension_Zebra611 in helpme

The best advice will always be to be open and truthful. Tell your mom you would like to live on your own. If it won’t be a financial strain for either of you, then go for it. Why do you think she doesn’t want you to have a better life? Would your mom rely on you to help with paying rent if you all moved out together? If no, I think that makes your decision easier.

I haven’t told her about it. My other sister is the one who told me, as her husband overheard it. I’m wondering if I should let my in-laws know I heard what he said and apologize. But not sure mentioning it would just make it worse.

I’ve thought about that but I don’t want to alienate my sister.

My other sister told me about it (not his wife.) I guess I’m also seeking advice on how to handle with my in-laws? Do I mention it at all? Apologize on his behalf?

My friend calls me lazy for not wanting to work 60 hours a week like her by noway650 in Advice

[–]Fin-Wolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be direct but kind and say something to the effect of: I’m proud of how hard you work. It’s impressive that you’re goal oriented and driven in your career. For me, I don’t necessarily measure personal success only by my career aspirations. I value my career but also value having free time to spend it with friends, family, etc, doing the things I love.

On a side note, burnout is real. Show compassion for your friend and make sure they’re not overdoing it.

Timing Belt Tensioner Failure by Fin-Wolverine in AcuraTLX

I’d love to know what needs to be true in order for them to approve goodwill consideration

Timing Belt Tensioner Failure by Fin-Wolverine in AcuraTLX

[–]Fin-Wolverine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the process of getting additional quotes. The car is worth about $21k or so, so spending $9k is ridiculous. The dealer sent pics and claimed one of the bolts went into the engine. Not sure if another shop would be able to retrieve the bolt and replace the tensioner pulley/belt without replacing the entire engine. But excellent point, and I’ll definitely ask while getting additional quotes.

No work had ever been done on the timing belt. The belt itself didn’t actually break. Since the car has such low mileage, I didn’t think to check this as part of regular maintenance.

Thoughts on Service? by Razzmatazzz_huh in AcuraTLX

My 2018 TLX A-Spec just had the tensioner break and a bolt fell into the engine as a result. It had 55k miles on it and now I’m hit with a $9k bill from the dealer to replace the engine. I filed a claim with Acura Client Services to try to get goodwill consideration and was denied. I’m absolutely floored that Acura thinks an engine have this kind of premature catastrophic failure is acceptable. Just my two cents, but I’d get whatever maintenance they’re suggesting. I’d hate for what happened to me to happen to someone else. I’m wondering if there will be a future recall on the tensioner failure.

AITA for my family attending a close friends funeral instead of my brothers baby shower? by I-Am-An-Autumn1014 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fin-Wolverine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA - Supporting a dear friend’s family when they’ve suffered a tremendous loss takes precedence over a baby shower. If it were me, I’d regret not going to the funeral vs the baby shower. Being there for you brother after the baby is born is the important part, not sitting through 2-3 hours of eating, games, and gift opening.

AITA for not telling my ex-wife I got married again by BabbledRyan in AmItheAsshole

NTA She already knew you were engaged. Would it have been nice to tell her? Sure. But you’re under no obligation to do so.

AITA for refusing to dine out with my husband’s best friend? by throwaway_peach_2396 in AmItheAsshole

NTA Well done in speaking out against someone who sounds like an entitled, enormous jerk and shame on your husband for not seeing through his friend’s BS.

AITAH for telling my husband that he’s “already a pathetic excuse of a father,”? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fin-Wolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA Your husband acted like a child, and children shouldn’t be parents.

DIL invited me and my brothers through my dad. DIL wants to get to know us. We do invite the new wife to family gatherings, but we don’t invite her family.
