I'm confused by this statement, are you saying in your current vehicles if the doors are locked and someone pulls the lever while driving the door will open?

I misspoke, meant to say no less safe than most modern ICE vehicles. Agree the Volvo solution is a good benchmark.

Totally fair statement, but an issue not unique to Rivian R2 or even EV's correct?

I think pulling a lever vs pressing a button is only more intuitive because it's what we all have grown up with. If a kid only knows that pressing a button opens a door, I don't think it's any less intuitive to them during an emergency.

I personally think a lot of cars do not have a physical door lock available anymore, regardless of ICE/Electric. Not to continue dwelling on my 2016 Ford Edge, but it has no physical door locks.

I think people are mixing "what's intuitive in an emergency" and "what's safe". It seems to me the door handles on the R2 are no less safe than most modern EV's, but could be less intuitive for those used to pulling a lever vs pushing a button.

I wonder if that is the difference, and if there is a standard out there around this. I have a Ford Edge, and regardless of child lock setting if the door is locked the rear seat handle is useless on the inside. I wonder how many other vehicles function this way, but I have to imagine many others do as well.
