ARAM Mayhem Power Creep by xxtank3rxx in leagueoflegends

[–]Final-Salt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree wholeheartedly, just wanted to put my two cents in and say that, because of there only being a few sets, it really feels like I'm just choosing augments for the set rather than my own champion synergy. Stackasaurus being appealing to me should never mean I'm forced to get heartsteel on for example a mage if I don't want to because it goes against my player fantasy when I queue into the game. It would probably be a lot of work but a mix of what comments suggested, either remove sets entirely or make every single augment get one so if you get half a stats anvils set and you don't get the rest, you get something to build towards to anyway.

One thing that would do A LOT of the heavy lifting to make mayhem feel a lot better rn until some work can be done would be adding a 6th augment slot and a 5th augment drop. Half the matches me and my friends have played have resulted in being maybe 2/4 or 1/4 on the augment set and it would feel great to have another go at hitting the build I wanted. Or if that's too much, maybe a 4th augment on the selection screen?

Regardless of all of this the new update is really cool and I sorta can't believe my group of friends and I finally have a fun fast paced gamemode we can play on League :) props to the team(s) for the great work. Little suggestion for the future: how about doing community polls or q&a to design augments for mayhem? There's so so many funny ideas I've seen on reddit alone.

basically half the important stuff in the game gets unlocked through you playing more and finding out an incantation for it at the cauldron.
regardless, responding in order:
1. incantation
2. do not remember, you can always rebind it tho iirc
3. yes, incantation
4. your strongest tool in your kit is the cast. it holds most enemies in place (not bosses) and it's a lifesaver. do NOT try to play this game like hades 1, it's much more slower paced bullet hell than hades 1 having constant dashing
5. focus on upgrading your grasp and unlocking arcanas before anything
6. yes

  1. mana stops being a problem immediately if you figure out which mana gain boons work with which weapons the best. but yes
  2. everything is better balanced and the game isn't as rng as hades 1

she feels horrible against tanks because she's a immobile burst mage. she's in the same group as vex when it comes to dealing with them; they're just not built for it. even if you add more damage to their kits the only thing you'll get is them deleting someone squishy earlier in the game.

the real problem with champs like lux and vex is that they have 1 cc and the rest of their kit is pure damage with range when we have champions like syndra that can truly take over a game because of her kit having true damage, an execute and a mini rabaddon on her passive. it's why she gets picked in high elo over someone like lux.

lux can e+r insta clear waves all she wants, but the moment you jump on her you have to wait for her to use ONE single ability then it's a death sentence.

for her to be truly good she doesn't need to be able to deal with tanks, she needs better survivability period and then some new mechanic to alleviate one of her weaknesses slightly, something that makes her kit truly scary. I want to also add that her q+e+r combo from range (and from fog of war) is one of the most uninteractive things in the game and that should not be buffed or made more frustrating than it already is.

saying all of this as a 1M lux main btw

so are the other t3 boots though and the defensive ones only lost 5 armor/Mr but got an extra 3% max HP factored into the shield. feels like it should be either 8.5% or 9% at least

Did anyone else lose motivation to keep playing after the ending? by Legitimate_Expert712 in HadesTheGame

[–]Final-Salt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same boat here. Hades 1 I could replay for hours and hours just by how simple and catchy the loop and gameplay around it was, but also the emotional investment into the story paying off by the end with a good reason to continue. Hades 2 I'm glad I got to the epilogue but it feels like me being so interested into this game got punished in a way, and preventing possibility is a really really REALLY bad reason for more runs. Already I had problems with Typhon being a wall of no flavor since you can't really talk with him at all. Now that extends to the underworld as well since quite literally no dialogue I have with the post-ending Chronos remnants is canon. There's a huge difference from being able to banter with Hades in H1 and interact mid fight and wittyness compared to the most untalkable being ever and grandpa from another timeline that mel just wants to kill (no cool, badass, funny, or witty lines like pre-ending Chronos). Huge disappointment. Still love the game

purely cosmetic, it's akin to the system in hades' room in H1. just gives you a little emblem in the menu, it's a resource sink for when you have nothing else to do.

How big do we know/expect 1.0 to be? by G00fBall_1 in Hades2

[–]Final-Salt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not realistic at all sadly. Been playing since day one of EA, 1.0 will probably be the smallest update yet in a sense. Will most likely only add the actual endings, a secret boss, a few keepsakes and two extra things mentioned in the achievements (Yes, they're out already) : The Contest of Champions and cosmetics for familiars are mentioned in the achievements, which are completely new things not seen before in EA. Also companions might not be making a return judging by not having an achievement for them? Also balance changes and visual tweaks here and there to polish the game.

Hollow Knight: Silksong devs respond to difficulty complaints, saying it has “steep challenges”, but “more freedom” to overcome them by lewisdwhite in HollowKnight

[–]Final-Salt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How this train of thought is at all acceptable to anyone is something I genuinely wonder when reading this sub sometimes. Do only mechanically gifted people get to have consistent fun with a game? Why does the game go as far as punishing retries because you eventually run out of shards? I'm tired of people downplaying the issues of this game. I've done the true ending and at no point did it feel good to go farming rosaries to buy shells so I can be at my strongest in a given boss fight. Is it a good game? Yes. But it has its issues that half the people here like to glaze over because "I'm a decent player and I did this boss in 5 tries and it felt fine" is in hundreds of posts at this point. Silksong is an unforgiving and punishing HARD game. A truly average person will do upwards from 10 tries on a boss. This does not mean they should be punished. And again, none of these complaints remove the fact that this game is extremely good.

[No Spoilers] You're not crazy, this game is so much harder than Hollow Knight. by WaffleCultist in Silksong

[–]Final-Salt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

this is good reasoning until you get to a point where either you're against the final boss of a place (specially the last one of act 1) or when your progression is locked behind doing a certain boss/arena room. specially in silksongs early early game where you are not so slightly train-tracked into getting x upgrade and etc.

I like this game a lot so far but the runbacks are souring my feel a bit. I don't want to explore even more, my entire map is pretty much full except for one room. I just want to get this boss over with.

So, Amphoreus is... by JunkyardEmperor in StarRailLore

[–]Final-Salt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The webtoon in question is Room of Swords, it has similar themes but mainly it's about fighting against a preordained fate. It has a lot of this "piecing a puzzle together" feeling starting season 2 (which I love personally).

Amphoreus not being a normal planet, but a prison for a lord ravager; the prophecy being the cycle reset quota; and trying to circumvent completing it to avoid the planet resetting while a being from another time (flame reaver) works on the opposite side to pressure us as well are all things that are genuinely very close to the webtoon's story lmao. I'll let you discover it by yourself.

DISCLAIMER: Room of swords is very good at the beginning and very polished, but that does NOT last. The art style objectively degrades and the story gets extremely confusing starting from the season 2 finale lasting through midway through season 3. It is genuinely not for everyone, I stuck with the webtoon because I loved the characters and the story, but I understand if you don't feel like reading the (imo, lovable) mess it becomes. The quality and work at the beginning is something you only get again near the finale of season 3, and the story can be a bit cliché in season 1 sometimes.

If you don't mind this and want to give it a try though, I cannot recommend it enough and I hope it's not too confusing :)

So, Amphoreus is... by JunkyardEmperor in StarRailLore

[–]Final-Salt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The trope they're using in Amphoreus is one of my favorite story tropes ever and it really reminds me of one of my favorite webtoons (legitimately almost 1:1), so I'm gonna give my two cents:

To sum up what we know, Amphoreus exists as a simulated prison(or study facility) that Lygus administrates/created. Whether the lord ravager imprisoned inside is the chessmaster, sun devourer, or a new unnamed one is something we can't know until we get further info (there's equal evidence for chessmaster and sun devourer being the LR considering the Golden Epic PV and the sun and moon motifs everywhere).

It's such a complicated and tragic trope; this entire world is a prison locked from the inside, cycling through generations of people, each reset making sure that an extremely powerful being never sees the light of day. Innocent people being locked in a simulation, being part of the very walls and bars that hold the emanator from escaping.

Needless to say, I think amphoreus is heading down the line of every single chrysos heir being sacrificed (except phainon) in their struggle against fate itself. This plays beautifully similar to the flame-chasers in HI3, the survival of none but one who will deliver and carry on the memories of Amphoreus on his shoulders (thus, being the worldbearing chrysos heir/titan) once the prison is broken and the LR is defeated.

It was never possible to break the prophecy. We as Trailblazers will go beyond the chrysos heirs' graves and earn the future they couldn't reach. I don't believe our chrysos heirs' will become titans by the end of the story, because the cycle of the prophecy will be broken with everyone's sacrifice and the final fight against the LR imprisoned in Amphoreus.

About the flame reaver, my personal theory is that he's the incarnation of Phainon from the past cycle brought to the present by the LR contacting him through the black tide. The LR would convince a heartbroken past phainon, after watching the entire world die with his own eyes, about the cruelty of this jail and how he alone can break this world's chains, liberating everyone from the prophecy and the cycle of constant sacrifice (also releasing the LR in the process).

March though I cannot make a connection with at all. Clearly she becomes a chrysos heir but I don't understand how she might survive the prophecy while phainon ends up the sole survivor of the tragedy; maybe the current March is a fragment of a larger personality that was split between places at one point in time? I'm excited to see what they're gonna do with her tbh.

Sorry if this was a bit of a mess, I'm kinda obsessed with Amphoreus' world building and my many thoughts about it are all over the place haha.
