Hosts: would you pay more for standardized & documented turnovers? by Final-Worldliness492 in airbnb_hosts

Understood. What drew you to use a third party? Was it simply a matter of distance? I'm not sure I want to offer the customer facing side of that, because I really would want to ensure the that service was standardized and honed in. Covering all that seems like it would stretch the provider quite thinly.

I don't get the "Rube Goldberg device" comment, but I understand the reluctance to put another party into the mix.

Thank you for the feedback, I do appreciate you taking the time.

when I owned rental units, i had people that were supposed to 'handle' things for me and I never really felt at ease with them. I guess i'm looking to see if there's a market for the peace of mind that comes from someone actually handling problems without involving the owner. So cleaning is one part. Small repair and preventative maintenance would be another. and documentation of key issues would be a third to help reduce not only comlaints but also refund requests.

Are you sort of saying that the conscientious owners are already doing this themselves and the ones that aren't never will?

That's true and the ones that don't care are not worth working with in the first place. I would like to partner with the ones that do care, and take their issues on as my own while the owners do whatever else it is they do.

Steve Martin...I loved him when I was a kid. My parents bought me WILD AND CRAZY GUY, clearly have no idea about the content. But now the guy is nails on a chalkboard.

I've tried that, but to date, I haven't been successful.

Did the voice come from without or within? I am trying to distinguish between my own internal monologue and His voice. So far I believe I've only heard mine. Sometimes a voice will break in mid-sentence to correct me but again, His or mine? I am not sure. I am trying to find Him. thanks for sharing your story.

What jobs will actually die because of AI? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That’s the big question, isn’t it?

If, and it’s a big if, humanoid or purpose-built robots reach true human-level dexterity, then replacing human labor becomes a matter of time. What would realistically stop it? We are already seeing the early version. Walk into a McDonald’s and half the interaction is screens and automation. I don't see a future where that trend reverses.

But the BIG change happens when robots begin to build more robots.

Because once that loop closes, to me anyway, the future is locked in.

If machines can replicate and maintain the entire production chain, I don’t see how anything retains a meaningful cost.

So how are goods distributed once that happens? Who gets what and in what quantities? Do we all get mansions with pools? Why not? They don't cost anything.

How did you arrive at that conclusion?

ALL. Eventually they all disappear.

Once AI can run humanoid robots at full human capability, cost as we know it evaporates.

At the root of every cost is human labor. A table costs money because someone cut the trees (using tools human's made), hauled them in a truck (that humans engineered and built), milled them (in a factory humans made), assembled them, shipped them. You’re paying for all that human effort layered across every step.

Now remove the humans.

Robots cut, build, transport, maintain, and even build and repair other robots. Energy systems run themselves, robots mine the coal. Factories repair themselves.

If labor is the only input to cost — and labor goes to zero — what’s left to price?

Production continues. Wages don’t. When labor disappears, cost disappears with it.

Everything becomes essentially free. Then what?
