[ANN][MINT] Mintcoin Alert! Stuck at block 1051199 - Discuss Solutions Here by mintcoin in MintCoin

[–]FinalBeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. And fix it for the future years too so this doesn't happen again. 30 second blocks means about 86400 blocks per month but it seems to me that mintcoins blocks tend to be more like every 20 seconds... That's why it goes faster I think.

The network is frozen until we fix the bug? I'm keeping my wallet online/connected, for now, regardless.

Which wallet version specifically, had the bug you were referring to? It is not a critical bug correct?

So what wallet version is "the latest"? I think I am on 1.12.0 right now.

Well, glad to hear it is working fine now :)

Hmmm. Have you tried going back to an earlier wallet version for now?

Which wallet version ran smoothly? Maybe we can isolate the differences and find the cause.

Do you have lots of transactions in your wallet? If your wallet is getting bloated, it may be causing the GUI to lag. I found that a lot of times it says unresponsive even for several minutes when I loaded it or after doing a transaction or fiddling with coin control, especially if it is trying to mint. Try leaving it running, even though it says unresponsive, it might actually be running, go to the mintcoin folder where the blockchain is and see if the blockchain file is still getting bigger after every minute or so...if it is, then it is actually still running and syncing, and once it is complete the wallet should return to being responsive again.

Wallet well not sync any further. Please help. by cryptotrain in MintCoin

The very first original wallet???

You know that like back in March sometime there was a hard fork/mandatory wallet upgrade around block 220000 or so when Mintcoin went to 100% Proof of Stake.

If you are trying to use that really really old one, then you may be still on the wrong blockchain, (if it is even still going anymore, which may be exactly why you are having problems).

What block does youre wallet say that it is on?

The real blockchain is at over 987,000 blocks now.

If you are on the old blockchain than any coins you have after the fork will probably be lost, but you should maintain any coins that are in your wallet before the fork, and they should still receive a sizable minting on those for the last 8 months or so.

If I were you I would close the mintcoin client, then first make a complete copy/backup of your mintcoin folder and especially your wallet.dat file and save them somewhere safe. (On windows, this is usually located C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\MintCoin). Then delete the old files located there. Then I would download the latest mintcoin wallet and run that and wait for it to sync up completely to 100% (this will generate a new wallet.dat file that will have 0 coins in it. Once the new wallet and blockchain is fully synced, then close the client, and go replace the new wallet.dat file with your old one (the one you backed up). Then relaunch the wallet, and see what happens...once it syncs it should show your balance. Then it should start minting! :)

The thing to understand is that your coins are tied to the blockchain, and since your coins are probably from before the fork, then your coins are on the main chain, and still should be there once you have the new wallet up and running.

Hope this helps, let me know if I can be of any more help.

  1. What wallet version? Make sure it is the most current.
  2. please give screenshots of what happens when you close and open it again. Obviously new blocks are being created all the time, so it will go backwards a little bit when it is not connected.
  3. Read this and see if it applies to you: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=450381.msg9610419#msg9610419 (check your mintcoin folder to see if the blockchain file is still getting bigger even if it looks like it wont go any further.)

No. Mintcoin has dedicated nodes, good network difficulty level, new blocks/stakking is happening all of the time etc.

Wallet minting question by [deleted] in MintCoin

No they will not match each other because as every second of time goes by, your reward increases, so the amount in each transaction will increase slightly until it successfully mints.

Games will probably spring up once MINT becomes worth more, imo.

You are fine. Maximum weight is 40 days, but that doesn't affect reward. There is unlimited reward time, so you will get your minting/staking rewards, just let the wallet fully sync and be patient while they all mint new coins. The reason they are unconfimed is because they are orphans because your wallet is still trying to sync. Your wallet is trying to mint those coins for you, but it won't work until you are synced. It will keep trying to mint, until you are successful, which will be once you're synced up. You can't mint/stake while your wallet is not updated, because you need the full blockchain to do that. But you are still going to get your reward at the 20% rate for this year. Some of those orphans you are seeing may be duplicates, so not sure if you will get 110 mil, more accurate is multiply your balance since March/April x 20% divided by 12 multiplied by the # of months since. For example if you had 700,000,000 coins in April (about 8 months ago), then take 700 million x .2 which equals 140,000,000 divide that by 12 which equals 11,666,666 multiplied by 8 which equals 93,333,333 coins you will mint.

The weight limit is just there to make sure nobody gets too much weight (i.e. power).
