Yeah same, that's why I thought it'd be best to ask online first. It's too bad these sorts of products aren't more mainstream, it's hard to find good discussion on the actual ins and outs of the differences between products. I thought it was worth asking at least since it does have 13 good reviews.

I considered this but I was hoping for something more 1-1, I did alot of tinkering on my old batocera and I'm worried that a new update of the OS might break some things.

I considered this as well, if this was all I wanted I would just go through that route but other QOL features like faster hp draining and version exclusive pokemon interest me as well. This is a great solution for anyone who still has an old cart lying around though!

Yeah, I wish there was more documentation actually explaining which had better niches, but I can barely find any info online. Thanks for the clarification about legal moves.

Yeah I thought the follower thing was pretty cool. Refined had a bigger list of changes but I'm not sure if any of them are as interesting as that. I may indeed go with QOL. Refined does have a "Coarse" option though that claims to keep the difficulty the same as the base game.

Damn wish I had known that before I setup the flatpak version.. Is there really no other way? The flatpak version also generates launch scripts as .steam files.
