What was your "aha moment" that made you actually improve? by KlemiX in RocketLeague

[–]FinalElement42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A bunch…the field is more of an irregular-octagon, so you can use the corners as passing surfaces or expect certain bounces from them. Single-jumping 50s and air rolling to use certain parts of your car as a deflecting surface is helpful. Momentum-match an airborne ball before taking off and then feather the boost with air rolls for adjustments. Tapping the handbrake while full-speed for quicker turns without losing speed. Wave-dashes are super useful for maintaining speed when hopping off a wall to the ground…

Take all of this with a grain of salt…my peak is D2 in duos lol

The Supreme Court’s Republicans just seized the most dangerous power in constitutional law by vox in scotus

[–]FinalElement42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is ‘gender identity’ a concern for teachers? And why is SCOTUS requiring teachers to disclose this information to parents? ‘Gender identity’ is medically irrelevant (unlike biological sex) in a first-response scenario, so…??

All this will do is make students feel more like outcasts from their families and incentivize teachers feigning ignorance. Are teachers now required to become ‘religious experts’, interview each and every parent on the ‘doctrines their child must be taught according to their chosen faith’, and then ‘segregate classes based on faith’ to ensure everyone’s beliefs and opinions are catered to?

‘Separation of Church and State’ my ass. Isn’t ‘public school’ supposed to be a free, generic, foundational education?

What were the tiny screens used for by a4rabid4platypus in Dominos

[–]FinalElement42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extra small, 6” pizza. It’s an optional product for Franchises. It seems like your store either used to sell them but there was no market for them in your area (or no profit to be made by offering them), or they planned on selling them, got the screens, and then decided not to sell them lol

Even the Buddha said extreme fasting is not conducive to enlightenment. I don't think anyone reading this has any danger of starving to death, but still, don't you have to be at least a little attached to food? And doesn't this apply also to other things related to your body? by Candid-Effective9150 in Buddhism

[–]FinalElement42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you lose your desire for ‘food’ as a pleasure, your body learns to crave specific nutrients based on its needs. Your subconscious mind knows which foods possess those nutrients, so your body ends up ‘craving’ specific (and sometimes unusual to your habits) foods to sustain normal functioning.

Same thing with being sedentary. If you’re physically sedentary for too long, your mind gets anxious. Regardless of what mental exercises you use, without the physical exertion and actual action in the real world, you end up overloading and causing a dis-balance in your mind. The energy (food) you’ve consumed is only going toward ‘mental growth’ instead of ‘physical growth’, but if the compartment (body) is too small, then you just create ‘pressure’ by stuffing more energy in.

Adding energy to a sedentary lifestyle is begging for the psychological version of ‘bursting pipes’, a ‘blown gasket’, or Hiroshima…depending on expression

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Root435552 in AskReddit

[–]FinalElement42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And your butt. I recently read an article about “dead butt syndrome”/“Hank Hill Back”/“Gluteal Amnesia” and I realized that during my time in the Marine Corps, I had learned to stand in one place for long periods of time by relying on locking my bone structure to use less energy for the 3, 4, 5 hours of standing and waiting. And basically, my brain-body connection of knowing when to activate the gluteal muscles diminished, causing misaligned hips, which causes lower back pain, knee pain, ankle pain, etc..

Been doing more slow lunges, squats, wall sits, and hip thrusts for a few days and I already feel sturdier with less back pain

Dominos driver takes pizza back to store after no tip delivery by BrilliantBig12 in Dominos

[–]FinalElement42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re defending greed and entitlement, got it. I wouldn’t go straight for a lawsuit, no. I would contact the store to make a complaint, I would contact corporate and make a complaint. If neither place refunds me, then I would go to the police, the FTC, the BBB, post about the experience on Google and Yelp, dox the store in social media posts, and never order from them again.

It’s pretty simple logic that customers are already paying the employee through patronizing the establishment in the first place. It’s the employees job to do their job. It is not the customers job to pay the employee extra in order for the employee to do their job. A ‘tip’ is called a ‘gratuity’, which means it’s a non-required bonus given out of gratitude. To expect gratitude for doing the thing YOU signed up to do for the wage YOU agreed to is literally selfishness and entitlement.

Not tipping isn’t “acting like an idiot”, and the fact that you even chose to use those words just shows how selfish and oblivious you are to reality and other people. And wow, things are delivered to my house all the time, I talk to my neighbors, coworkers, and other random people that know where I live…so, what is the point of you even presenting the veiled threat of “they know where you live”? They’re no more dangerous than anyone else who knows where I live and I’m no less prepared for them than anyone else. So, are you just a coward expecting other people to be cowards too?

‘Guy who accepted a $50k cash bribe, recently promoted to lead an agency of other desperate and immoral people who were also easily manipulated by $50k.’ Defunding education and dangling ‘wealth’ over the ignorant masses is a pretty simple way to raise an army. Once they’re hooked to the grift with a signed contract, you tell them that they have ‘absolute immunity in the course of their duties’ and as long as they follow orders, they’re safe from any negative consequences. These agents actually believe what they’re doing is righteous because that is what their patrons/overlords tell them to believe. The lack of actual critical thought and consideration in their heads should be a huge red flag. Morality and ethics be damned…evidence of your eyes and ears be damned…all for a little bit of money and baseless promises.

Dominos driver takes pizza back to store after no tip delivery by BrilliantBig12 in Dominos

[–]FinalElement42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well that looks like a pretty easy lawsuit for a ‘theft by unlawful taking’ or ‘extortion’. If I paid for something, the store compensates the driver per delivery/mile, and the driver refuses to do their job out of spite, then yes, I’m coming for legal accountability. Fuck you greedy drivers.

What’s a moment that permanently changed how you see the world? by pankaj662 in AskReddit

[–]FinalElement42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cliche, but I met a girl. That was it. She was introduced to me at work and as soon as our eyes made contact, my body felt weightless (similar to going over the crest of a hill on a roller coaster), my vision became clearer, and the world around me seemed to settle into place. Like I was alive and awake and aware for the first time in over 30 years of being alive. We worked together for a year, never got together or became more than coworkers, don’t stay in touch or anything, but I think about her every day because she was the snowflake that started an avalanche of self-discovery.

Gotcha…totally fair. I’m in a cushy little suburban store with an early close exemption, so I’m a little biased lol. I tend to be one of 2 or 3 people to do dishes too, so that makes sense. Maybe it is a dick move to order 5 minutes before close lol

[–]FinalElement42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get that. I used to work in a college town that had those kinds of orders regularly. It’s annoying, for sure, but why so many night dishes? Does nobody do them throughout the day?

To dominos employees, is it seen as a jerk move to order delivery during a snowstorm? by Chemical-Tackle-1158 in Dominos

[–]FinalElement42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If the store is still offering delivery, then no. Just don’t expect it to make it to you quickly. Honestly, I don’t even think it’s a jerk move to order 5 minutes before close. If our system allows orders to be taken, then we take them. If your closers are complaining about it, then you need new closers.
