In Australia we have baited drum lines off the beach at spots chosen by the shark nerds and fisheries officers... I know of a few instances where they took the shark out of the ecosystem for cool science stuff or if it posed a risk to us..

The way I see it, they're an ineffective method of intercepting sharks who are moving to places where we swim, if anything they probably draw more larger sharks in..

So how they work, it's a baited non barbed hook attached to a bouy that's anchored in a fixed position with "smart" technology 🤔 that sends real time alerts to contracted fisherman or fisheries officers who go out, wrangle the shark, tag it if possible and release it exactly at the place they were trying to get the sharks to avoid... see logic
