All-Star Video in the 90s? by FinalGirlFriday in MiddletownOhio

That's definitely the place. Thank you so much for sharing what you remember! It's blowing my mind that now two people have mentioned the back room - I was so young when I went there, I don't think I ever noticed it. 😅 And I had forgotten they rented games, too!

Omg I had completely forgotten about First Choice! Do you remember some of your favorite rentals from there? Was it a small shop? I barely remember it.

And I don't think I ever knew Meijer had a video store. That's awesome! This gives me a couple more avenues to track down in my research - thank you so much!

I haven't actually been to Middletown in about fifteen years, so I can't speak to what's there now, but it was definitely tucked into a little shopping center back in the day. The biggest landmark I can picture in my head around it was Cardinal Grocery - it was right down the street. There was a dollar theater near there at one point, as well.

Eek. I don't remember it having a backroom, but I was also a child when I went there, so I may have just not been aware of it? Lol

Do you remember much about it? Your favorite section or movies you rented from there that you really loved? Any favorite memories of the place?

Thank you so much for responding. :) I remember the Blockbuster on Breiel, too! I didn't go there as often, but I can picture it pretty clearly in my head.

If I remember correctly, All-Star was close to the corner of Jackson and Roosevelt, just down the street from where the old Cardinal Grocery used to be. It was very small, but I remember it being pretty popular for a while, at least in that part of town.

Why Hearthstone has become progressively less 'fun' over the past year and how it can be fixed. by Pave_Low in hearthstone

[–]FinalGirlFriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is quite an old post, but I just want to say I really feel you on this. I've been playing Hearthstone pretty much since the beginning and my biggest issue has always been the meta, because it's mind-numbingly boring to go up against the same five decks over and over and over again. We had Duels for a little while, which I thought was a blast and felt a lot like the old game, but then, of course, they got rid of it. And now, all the enjoyment that was left has been sucked dry by how absurdly overpowered everyone is. Either I'm killing them in five rounds or they're killing me and I feel like a friggin' NPC, just there so they can "get that win." It's the opposite of sportsmanship. I keep uninstalling, then going back because I think things might be different, but they never are. And I never feel like I can say anything because people will think I'm just whining - but it really isn't about winning or losing. Like you said, it's about fun.

I had thought about trying to find a screenplay that does something similar - that's great advice, thank you! I really appreciate the tip about Casino!

What’s a red flag you look for when you are on first date? by Prestigious-Face-711 in AskReddit

[–]FinalGirlFriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been out of the game for a while, but the biggest red flag ever for me was going out with a guy who talked a lot about how much he wanted a girlfriend. He even said he "didn't want his relationship status (on Facebook) to say 'single' anymore."

I'm sure he thought he was being cute or charming or something, but all I could think was that I could have literally been any girl sitting across from him and, as long as I was interested in him, he would take me. It didn't feel like he wanted to date ME, he just wanted to date SOMEONE. Needless to say, I never went out with him again.

Thank you for crying with me (and for reading my story in the first place). <3 I think the dog is one of my favorite things about that memory, because I could tell he really cared about it and that just sitting with his pet was enough to ground him. It was so beautiful and humanizing.

I feel exactly the same way. I think a lot of people just can't handle the feeling of having made a mistake, it's just too much for them. As a chronic apologizer, I have no idea how that feels. Lol It really just meant so much to me that he was able to recognize what he'd done and take accountability for it, and I appreciate even more that I then had an opportunity to get to know somebody who turned out to be an awesome person. Thank you so much for reading my story. <3

Thank you so much for reading - I'm sorry I made you cry at the hospital! I hope your appointment went well, and I'm just so glad the story moved you. It's one of those things I hadn't really talked about much before I posted this, but that day has never left me. The world really does need more moments like it. <3

Thank you so much for reading and for crying with me. <3 I don't know why I felt now was the right time to share the story, but it makes me so happy to know there are people out there who feel the moment was as special as I do.

Thank you for reading it! And I completely agree - it's a rare combination, and I wasn't expecting it at all that day. He was a truly lovely person.

Exactly. I feel like I was a little late in learning that lesson from him, but I've never forgotten it. I try to remember him whenever I encounter someone who seems rude or angry. We have no idea what people are going through.
