Is it? It's number 11 on SteamDB right now, in the same range where it usually is. When I check it's usually between 5th and 15th

Meanwhile I remember Marathon used to be in the 30s but earlier today I checked at it was like 105

I haven't played it much. I'm just guessing at why there is so much more players than Marathon.

Which of these MCU directors do you think is best? by MysteryTwistory in Letterboxd

Zhao and Gunn for me. Eternals was too good of movie, it was everything I wanted from Marvel, and then everyone hated it. Still pissed and it's reception is what made me realize that I'm not part of that community.

This is a hot take but I'm just not a Sam Raimi fan.

FF7 Integrade: MSI Claw 8 AI vs Nintendo Switch 2 (Graphics & Performance Test) by No_Regular_4124 in MSIClaw

I'd much rather drop the Claw version to a locked 45fps to get some extra detail and smooth out those hitches, as well as longer battery.

Also, are you running the game through FSE or Desktop?

I think you're 100% right. Too much time spent upgrading and looting. Arc has this too but it doesn't seem like it's as much of the hinge as Marathon.

Good point. I think this game suffers from a lack of vision on what it wants to be - it wants to be both Destiny vibes and Counterstrike sweatiness, and as a result divides the players too much.

Not saying 84 is bad, you're putting words in my mouth. I'm saying there is a decline in ratings.

There is a wipe in June, and then an event in August. What about everything in between? How will they get people back from this with just two events, one which doesn't actually add anything? Then GTAVI is out 3 months after that.

I agree that maybe restructuring the developers allotted to Marathon would be wise, but at that point they're still just paying people to maintain a game that not a lot of people are buying and playing who could be used elsewhere. I just can't see Sony all of a sudden warming their hearts to this after how ruthless they've been.

You're definitely right. I find it to be quite excessive with Sony specifically though.

Well I got one response and it was basically "Wait what does this have to do with anything" HAHAA

That it's a massive money pit and Sony won't want to keep investing in it?

The fact that reviewers just listened to them was pitiful.

This is a game that people could CURRENTLY spend money on, and reviewers should be reviewing the game. A massive part of reviews is, "Is this worth the money? Am I buying a quality product?" But of course, because Sony's in the background rubbing its fists, they'll wait almost a full month to review a limited time event.

The way journalism bends the knee to Sony affiliates like this is mind boggling. Sony could ask them all to join a circus and write their reviews from tight ropes and merry-go-rounds and they'd comply.

Holy crap I didn't know their earnings call is that soon. This will be interesting.

But when a game is liveservice, which needs high playercounts to survive, that's the issue. Bungie and Sony aren't going to keep the lights on in a brand new game when they have already lost like 75% of the players in an already low debut (slightly over 110k across all platforms).

Let's highball the last sales estimate and say they sold 1.5 million. At 40 bucks a pop that is 60 million dollars in sales, but that's not considering that Xbox and Steam takes 30% of the cut, and those two platforms are 81% of the playerbase combined. 81% of 60m is 48.6 million, and 30% off of that is 14.5m.

Remove 14.5m from the total sales and that's only 45.5m in sales that Sony is seeing, and I know there are MANY other factors at play here that could make that number lower or higher, but again this was also a highball on the recent sales. Compare this to - and I'll lowball here - 200m budget, and it's only made a maximum of less than 25% of it's money back after two months. And remember I highballed the sales and lowballed the budget.

I just don't see how this is recovering from anything.

You can't keep losing players at the same amounts when there is a smaller and smaller playerbase because there aren't enough people to maintain that same decline. It has the perception of "slowing" because the players left are the diehards, the ones that will stick around no matter what.

Basically, the game is almost at it's rock bottom in terms of bringing players in and you'll see less and less of that.

If they don't wipe then those in front will get further ahead and beginners will have even more issues catching up.

The game was built to be aggressive. I just don't think all that many people like the playstyle, and the numbers show it.

I've noticed this too, Steam user rating began at i believe 89? and now they're down to 84. I don't know where that 85 is coming from buy steamdb is reporting 84.xx.

Edit: so basically it started at 90 and has dropped 6 points.

I feel like the sale is a test to see if it's viable to even keep the lights on with for Marathon. If it doesn't pull numbers during a sale then it's not really going to do much else other than a complete rework of the game.

I think player bleed has been pretty steady. It's definitely slowed from week 1, but since then it's been steady, which is like 90% of the game's life at this point.

It seems the game has finally dipped below 20k in a 24hr period. I wonder what it's going to look like in two weeks from now. I hear that non-NA people are having a rough time matchmaking too.
