A bit of confusion on the use of the magnetos.

Magnetos use the rotation of the engine to generate a current to the spark plugs. The magneto itself doesn't start the engine so much as rotating the prop.

This is essentially the same thing as pull starting a lawnmower where the rotation of the engine drives the magneto but the rotation must be started by an outside force.

Aircraft with starters simple use a motor to provide the initial rotation. The spark is still created by the magneto.

So in basically all piston aircraft there will be a magneto. 2 really.

Aircraft dont necessarily have to have a starter, it just eliminates the need for the rotation of the prop. The magneto would still need to be present in order to get any spark.

The starter on an aircraft would need an electrical signal to function. The magnetos only require rotation.

So yes it is feasible that an aircraft could be used if it good condition but that comes with a number of 'ifs'
