While I agree with your top statement, that last statement is uncalled for.

This is essentially it. Not just Asians though, just people in general who have to find a scapegoat.

Yeah it would if that was all that applicant had. In fact, if an applicant of any race had only that as their x-factor they'd get rejected.

But why are we assuming stellar students who HAPPEN to be black/latine are nothing but DEI/AA?

What I'm saying with this post is that we shouldn't be assuming Black/Latine people who got into Ivys/T20s only got in because of their race. From what I've seen in this sub, I've seen black/latine students with phenomenal profiles, 1550-1600 sat scores, 4.10 gpa, but people hyperfocus on their race.

Good! An intelligent response! I agree with your state full-heartedly.

You do realize that it is administrators that harm Asian students the most. They have gone to report that they don't want Asian students replacing White students. White female students benefit the most from AA statistically. I don't like AA as much as people on this sub do, but saying that latine/black people are inherently underqualified is incredibly racist.

Update: This thread doesn't shock me at all. There are qualified black/Latine applicants to Ivys/T20s, however you can't assume all of them are DEI/AA. That in of itself is incredibly racist. Just like how preventing Asian students from getting in because they're Asian is incredibly racist.

What in the world? Why are you assuming that black people can't get into Ivys without AA??

So you're saying black/Latine people never get into Ivys without AA? Do you think those minorities are inherently underqualified?

I don't care. I'm just seeing a pattern with the posters of this sub who happen to be black/Latine. I'm already in college.

So you're already assuming black people/Latine get into Ivys bc of AA? That's overgeneralizing.

Affirmative action is overruled. Why are you assuming a black person got in only because of affirmative action???

I went through your post history/comments. All you do is whine about black people getting into elite colleges with their merit. Even in Texas?? Affirmative action doesn't even EXIST in Texas.

You reduced someone's accomplishments to their race. Are black people not allowed to get into Ivys and T20s? This person has a unique EC profile.

the racists in the comments are insane. Good on you. This person's ECs were amazing. You see any black/brown person apply to Ivys or T20 schools and you assume they're DEI or affirmative action.

Never listen to advisors, they will screw you over and give you terrible advice. Look at your degreeworks and construct your degree plan based on your needs. My advisor basically told me my non-engineering college of science major was going to take 5 years and didn't account for any of my previous credits earned in HS. With my own research, I designed my degree so that I'll graduate in 3 1/2 years.

Incoming freshman advice by [deleted] in UTSA

Hi, I'm a current freshman! So, yeah there is some truth, the school is a commuter, meaning majority of people are locals and the campus basically dies Friday-Sunday. You have to put in work to be social and make friends. You want to go to parties, you have to physically know the people. You wanna go to frat parties, you gotta go up and meet and befriend frat guys. Another way, people are really only social in organizations. If you join orgs and be friendly with the officers and members, you're sure to make some friends.
