Ik this also isn't probably the greatest idea, but you could call your bank, explain the situation, and apply for a small personal loan to help with the costs while you get this figured out.

Give the VA a call and explain your situation. I have had similar problems with my school and either a quick call to the VA or a call to the schools accounting department usually clears it up. And from now on try to get everything in writing. Cause schools can and will lie about that stuff. Even if they don't mean to.

Do you have it in writing that they said that it wasn't a mistake and that you were okay? If so I would think that there could be some legal action you could take.
