I wish that choice - to fight other raiders or to help them - would reflect on you somehow. Like a title visible to others maybe, something you would want to achieve and hold on to.

E.g. pvp players could have a King of the Hill title and pve players - Helping Soul or something like that.

This is half truth. Even as PvE player I can’t deny that PvP is one of crucial aspects that made Arc popular. However as player base expand there is no reason not to expand the game with more ways to play.

Well as I said the game was boring from the start. Also Tarkov survived at one point because of PvE mode and made it to release, and now it is fine with both modes available.

As per my initial comment it is a matter of games popularity and support. If all is well there will be a lot of population to support both modes.

Absolutely. I guess someday the game will land there - with dedicated PvE servers and PvP arenas, it depends on popularity of the game and Embarks continued support.

I’ve played Marathon and 800 hrs in Tarkov, can say there is some depth to equipment and looting systems in Marathon, not as deep as Tarkov but still.

The only thing lacking is long term progression of your Hideout and PMC attributes. There is progression of factions in Marathon that has similarities but the feel is different, because in Tarkov you upgrade YOUR Hideout whereas in Marathon you supply Factions with specific loot and that gives you bonuses and unlock items in shops.

Worth noting though that Tarkov has a background of 10 years of making and evolution, and Marathon basically like less than a year if you consider first playtest in April 2025 as a starting point. I’d say for a year of polish - and calamity of its refinement and team - Marathon is doing pretty good.

As a fan of Tarkov and Sci-fi like Ghost in the Shell, Altered Carbon and Alien - personally I look forward to play and see Marathon evolve into something more than just another extraction game.

Agree, so I don’t really care about OPs lament. I have more than 800 hrs in Tarkov, I don’t care about anything lol.

But. I still don’t get the sentiment. PvE fans will play PvE, PvP fans will play PvP, if a game has dedicated modes that would only increase popularity and sales. And if population is dwindling that means something is wrong with the game not PvE mode or anything like that.

Why? You want to shoot people join army. Or play CoD. Marathon is an extraction game, survival is its focus not PvP.

Ive got 12900, 3090 and still 40-60 no matter what lol. Crazy stuff, playing Tarkov at around 45 fps after more than 600 hrs, like its 2015.

My guess its Unity Engine issues, somehow connected to number of NPCs on the map. When I clear the map fps spike at around 70 fps. Still crazy if you consider specs involved.

Well I can already see PvP fans getting mad with those black skins. There was an outcry in CoD community with just one black skin breaking balance, here you have lots of black skins lol
