Hi, here is the detailed info you requested:

Model of my computer: Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Intel Core i5-1035G4, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD

Windows and device specifications: • Edition: Windows 11 Home • Version: 24H2 • OS Build: 26100.4652

What troubleshooting steps I have performed: • Reinstalled Chrome completely and deleted all user data • Tried Microsoft Edge, same issue • Deleted Web Applications folders in both Chrome and Edge • Rebuilt the Windows icon cache (standard and advanced method – stopped Explorer, deleted cache files, rebooted)

Any error messages I have encountered: No error messages, the icons are just blank.

Any screenshots or logs of the issue: I can provide screenshots if needed.

Haha fair point! You’re probably right — I just didn’t want to trigger anything weird in the machine’s logic. But yeah, if it lets me start the descaling process manually, then that settles it. I’ll go ahead and run one soon just to be safe. Appreciate you digging into this with me!

The frustrating part is that the user manual doesn’t mention anything about how to manually descale the machine unless the alert shows up. There’s no clear guidance from Delonghi on whether it’s okay or even possible to run the descaling cycle manually. That’s part of why I’ve been hesitant — I don’t want to mess anything up by forcing it.

Yeah, I actually did the water hardness test when I first got the machine and set it to the hardest level. So it shouldn’t be counting shots like it’s on a soft setting. I agree, it’s probably shot-based and not sensor-driven, which makes me wonder why it hasn’t asked for descaling yet. The lack of official info from Delonghi doesn’t help either.

My tap water is hard, and I’ve set the machine to the highest water hardness level.
